No i'm not forgetting that is the price a member on here will be selling them for with no contract, and you can get them off ebay for around the same price, this is what this thread is about.

lol so they don't want them unlocked then greedy gits they want them to make them alot of money selling on individual networks before they look at others by the sounds of it

Hate to argue (well, it's in my nature really....) but your still not seeing my point.
I understand ALOT of people don't want most features that most phones have. I understand not everyone wants to even use SMS.
But, the big point is, it costs a small fortune compared to what you can get that does those few things that those users want to do.
Cost vs Features is insane.

Well yes and no as you actually buy the iPhone for that price you don't have to take out a contract to purchase and own one. Their are now other threads discussing the possible options available to potential owners.
