First of all, kill those big images.
Yeah, Neonode definately got the concept and the outside right. Unfortunatly there is much more to becoming successfull than that ("but what about Nokia?" you're wondering). It's what's inside that matters - much of Nokias success is due to simple interface design and meaningful applications - such as "Snake".
The first thing we have to realise is that N1 is a trade-off; it is not a plain-phone and yet not a smart-phone. It is not based on Symbian or any other proven platform.
These guys will NOT pull it off without tailored applications and functionality so good as to justify this tradeoff. Cute looks alone is going not be enough.
Ofcourse, Neonode is aware of this. So what did they go and do? They went and based N1 on a microsoft platform, so as to enable the largest existing developer-base to make new and exciting programs for it. Probably it will be possible to use dot net, and C# (pronounced "C-hash") to make programs for it. Smart huh?
Until you stop for a second and think about what it really means. Among which group of developers is C# most popular? Visual-basic-nerds! They've entrusted their future into a vast crowd of talentless pimple-faced fourteen-year-olds. And judging by the crowd they've attracted on their forum (forum.neonode.com) that demography fits the bill perfectly.
Yes I know; it says NO WHERE that N1 has anything to do with dot net. However, I think things like win ce, msn and internet explorer is enough shite to attract the afore-mentioned crowd, and then the harm might already be done.
By this I do not mean to under-emphasize the importance of instant messaging and web browsing; in fact I think these two applications are by far the most important. But I also believe it is nothing but harmful to submit to microsoft's grasp.
