I'm on Vodafone and got my phone from them, whilst it was heavily branded I noticed that I got a '3G+' symbol (rather than the 'H' I've pics of) in some areas that I frequent, but not in others. The manual said it symbolised HSDPA. However, since I've debranded my phone (I did it because the 'H' symbol looks so much cooler than '3G+' ) I only get 3G symbol wherever the wind blows me, including areas that I know i had a strong 3G+ signal. What's more, is that the '3G+ sybol that I used to see in Menu->Settings->Connectivity->Mobile Networks->GSM/3G networks next to the option 'GSM, 3G and HSDPA' isn't there anymore because that option isn't there anymore! It just feels like debranding my phone lost it's HSDPA capabilities which I want without having to rebrand back to Voda. Suggestions?

So what network options should I have on a unbranded handset?

Is it still either GSM only or GSM and 3G?

That's what I have on my unbranded handset but there was a third option with the voda branding that included HSDPA and a little 3G+ symbol

3G+ and H symbol means that area has HSPDA cover..

Here at Sweden, I got unbranded W910, Don't see any H or 3G+ at mine.. And I know here I'm got HSPDA coverd...

I think I'll have to do a speed test tonight. The last one I did didn't light any fires.

I have a W910 on Orange French network, and only have the 3G icon.

And HSDPA working at the speed of light

After a quick check on eBay I found someone selling t-mobile hsdpa sim cards. He's explaining that these are not the same as normal 3g sims.

May be this is the reason I'm not receiving the symbol or the HSPA speeds.

@goldenface

I have an O2 K850i with their £7.50 p/m data bundle and I get the H symbol almost everywhere in town. It definately exists (and really drains the battery I reckon).
