This argument that doesn´t use 3.5mm jacks on their phones to push accessories´ sales just makes me think that is lame. What a goddamn lazy company. If it´s a music phone, sorry, but it MUST have a 3.5mm jack. All headphones nowadays are 3.5mm jack and it´s really convenient for the consumer to have that, plus providing the user with the choice can only do well to the brand. If wants to sell accessories why don´t come up with unique stylish but not very expensive headphones to go with the walkman phones. They could even do some advertising for them. Thickness is not an excuse. There are very slim phones with 3.5mm jacks like the iphone in the market. ´s been in the market for far longer than apple why don´t they figure out how to do it?
About what was said earlier about the iphone´s battery. It´s a built-in battery but it lasts for a very long period of time and if something is wrong with it, apple will replace it. Besides that if you need more battery life, there are ´external´ batteries that attach to the bottom of the iphone (they last for 1 or 2 charges). They are not hard to find and cost like 20-30dol.

Of course Apple replaces the batteries when they go dead. It's a company that realizes their past mistakes/dumb decisions quickly.

It might be lame if that was the case, but the 3.5mm jack is an anologue connection not a digital one like the fastport which can support other functionality.

So have given us more than just a headphone jack but a smart solution for a range of features.

The fastport seems to be designed with the concept of 'one plug for all' in mind, which is nice in itself, but the implementation is still not perfect yet.

Actually I think a smart way to end all this is to put a 3.5mm jack in one of those holes on either side of the fastport. Just make sure you can fit normal fastports into it.

@yea g

Brilliant idea, I hope the decision makers at SE read that.

All that really needs to happen is widen up the hole a little and put contacts in. Even leaving the hole as a square would probably work

If 3.5 jack will make SE goes bricky like NOKIA, then keep it away from my slim sleek and stylish phone.

NOKIA 5320xm is pretty small, yet has a 3.5mm jack, also NOKIA N79 is realy decently sized and only weighs 97g yet is higher specd than most if not all phones and that has a 3.5mm jack, NOKIA E63 is pretty slim and has a 3.5mm jack as well as a large 1500mAh battery. So NO the 3.5mm doesnt make them "bricky", must say it looks ridiculous and is highly uncomfortable when wanting to listen to music while my K850 charges, you have to plug the charger in THEN the headphones ON TOP of the charger, you would have thought by now realised how inconvinient this is and FINALY put in a 2.5 or 3.5mm jack, but nah, they dont feel like it, almost forgot to mention ive now got a prob with my K850 fastport which disconnects when just slightly moved like when im walking and listening to music with it, yet ive only had this phone for +/-7months ,yet ive had my N81 for over 14months and its 3.5mm jack has not a single problem, not a single disconnection by mistake or other fault, the fast port makes me realise how much i take the 3.5mm jack in my N81 for granted.

@GUCCI.011

That's because the fastport itself has too many connectors on it compared to the 3.5mm jack.
