I can only speak for Windows Mobile 6 Pro on the Tytn II, but no - copy and paste is available pretty much everywhere, in every app, fully integrated into the OS itself.
In UI terms, there's nothing I miss from UIQ. In fact, I suspect UIQ3 borrowed a few ideas.

Nice. Does it have undo/redo as well? If it does, I'm starting to regret ditching a wm5 unit, because it didn't have any of these things..
edit: seems there's an api for WM versions with touchscreen called Ink, that's supported on most programs.
(..whoever made the e-mail app for uiq3 stole the layout from microsoft, at least: no quoted text with '>' notation, but a header on top instead..)

@defiantbeast:
Okay following that logic you could say that vhs is better than dvds as the their are gazillions of vhs tapes out there. And dvd wins hands down against Blu-ray and HD because there are more of the other.
What kind of ridiculous analogy this is. How about this? Ford Mondeo Model sold much more than Ford Model T. I am definitely saying Ford Mondeo is MUCH BETTER than Ford Model T. You dont agree?
@doministry
Well
remember that sales has nothing to do with any profi-quality.
Sales means sometimes that the device is formatted to an average users habit's, spanned between maniacs and almost anti-electronic idiots, and all should be able to operate it somehow.
Let me ask you a very simple question. What do you think will happen to SE if all the K-series models are as problematic as P990?
Nokia is gonna sell 40+ million S60v3 phones this year (and increasing at 2-3 times the rate of phone market). This is about 50% of all phones sold by SE. You are delusional if you tell me there is no quality/stability in S60v3 which is powering the entire Nokia high-end phones.
@nipsen
Since we got the "quality/stability" issues out of the way (see above) and none of us know the technical intricacies of the OSes themselves, why dont we just LIST down functionalities that our fav OS have over the others. Let's just compare
CURRENT RELEASED functionalities that are bundled or installable for free from the manufacturers. Let's not include hardware comparison.
I start with my own S60v3 vs UIQ3. As I have only limited use of UIQ3, pls correct my points if I am wrong about UIQ3.
What S60V3 have and UIQ3 dont:
1. Newer Symbian OS core with demand paging

- changable icons
4. Speaker-Independent Voice Dialing
5. Integrated In-Phone data/files search functions
6. Customisable Profiles (with its own ringtones etc)
7. Phone Call recording
8. PTT support
9. uPNP support
10. WMA format drm support
11. Dual writing language support.
12. Free Navigable Map of the world
13. 3D Gaming Platform - Ngage
14. Contacts searchable by first/last name (nitpick)
15. Web-browser with Flash support
16. Blog/Direct Video/Audio Upload from Gallery
17. Threaded/Chat-Based SMS
18. Much more 3rd Party Software Support
19. Direct Microsoft Exchange Support
20. SIP / VOIP support
21. WIFI-g standard support
22. Speech support (i.e. reading out sms etc)
23. Accelerometer support
24. Fully One-handed Use
25. Customisable Screensaver (nitpick)
26. Offline/Flight mode without SIM card

anyway, it is fun to read how UIQ3 users gloat about an OS with maybe 1+ million units sold as the "best and greatest". This is against the likes of s60v3 with something like 50+ million units sold or WM5 with 10+ million.
it's like the VHS standard, the cheaper more wide known wins, not the "best quality"

It certainly has undo, not sure about redo, but I wouldn't be surprised. It really is quite a Windows-like experience, which IMO at least is a good thing.
I can take issue with this as well -
What about handwriting recognition? It turns out that UIQ3 can run stable handwriting recognition software constantly on top of every program with input, without causing degradation in performance. Or inexplicable hangs.
No other system can currently do that.
Wrong! I use WM6's letter recogniser all the time, and it's absolutely as fluid and easy to use as UIQ's Jot - which was important for me, as I've been an avid Jotter since the P800. It also has two alternative handwriting systems, Block recogniser and Transcriber (the latter of which recognises whole words or sentences) and while I don't get on with them so well, it's nice to have choice.

@mib1800
You convinced me!
Today I sell my P990,
and hang your list on the wall.
Thank you!
I think I'll buy N95. It's the best phone in the world.

N82:
1. Controversial design and questionable ergonomics
2. No RDS for the FM radio
3. Below average GPS performance
4. No office documents editing application
5. Doesn't charge off USB

Aha, so what's the problem of inserting a random SIM and still going in?None.
And whats with that log in - do you mean master reset?
Its a standard 0000 pass I don't even know if you can change that...
In all fairness to UIQ3, yes you can change the "standard 0000 pass" - it's called the phone lock code, it's listed in the security settings, and you can change it to anything you like quite easily. You can also set the phone to lock itself and ask for that same phone lock code whenever the SIM is changed, so "the problem of inserting a random SIM and still going in" is that it won't work. Neither will the master reset, assuming the thief doesn't know your new code. So in truth, yes, UIQ3 (and 2 before it, none of this is new) is actually very secure - or at least it is in the hands of anyone who knows how to use it.
