No you don't - it's a touchscreen, you can handwrite or use an on-screen keypad.

Say not everybody likes sliding keypad and handwriting on the screen, somemore it is from right side of the phone. Actually you can use P1i with one hand though.
Why not think about Glofiish M800? It has all functions including GPS and FM radio. Though not many even know its existence.

Different strokes, though - ok, you have to slide the keypad for a proper qwerty, but on the other hand that means the screen can be a lot bigger, and so can the keyboard. For the majority of functions the Tytn II is very easy to use one-handed - it has a joypad, a scroll wheel and lots of other useful buttons, and is probably easier to navigate one-handed than the P1. It's only text that gets trickier, but even then you can use an on-screen keypad.

Mostly because it's not very good - it has impressive specs (particurlary the VGA screen) but as a device it's not as well built or designed as the HTC. It hasn't been picked up by any carriers either.

I currently own a P1i and loving it and have been a smartphone user since Nokia 3660/6680/3230/7710 in the good old days and its just recently that ive experienced UIQ3 interface via P1i, for now I currently like using it but almost always wanting to try Windows Mobile and terribly intrigued by it. If not for the hefty price of WM devices here I wouldve bought one like the dopod pro 838. Maybe soon I can really know the difference between UIQ3 and WM6.......
