Apparently this shortens the battery life. Older batteries required a full discharge to condition the battery for max performance. However, the Li-Ion batteries in the t68(i) are constantly oxidising (which is bad) and fully discharging the battery each time helps this process. Short charges (topping up the battery) is meant to have less of an effect on the battery. (Full discharges are not necessary like in the older batteries)

However, I think in real world terms it makes very little difference. Especially in the first year or two. Even Ni-MH batteries are not recommended for a full discharge each time.

I am awaiting a detailed answer on this topic from SonyEricsson themselves. Will post as soon as I find out their view.
