The 5th pic has more details on lower side for k850 (white boot) and more details on the rest of the premise for n82 (white lamp and ceiling)

If you ask me, i think N82 is more close to a real P&S digicam and yes it's more easy to make good pics with the N82, don't need to monkey in the settings to find best.

and don't get me wrong, i'm a user but have to admit that N82 is better.

.
It's more easy to make good pics with the Nokia ? Maybe but the most important tips to apply with the K850i is reduce exposure a bit in some cases in daylight.
.

ok, you're right, but take into account that first two pics were taken with EV -0.7 and still K850 can't calculate exposure properly. K850 light sensor is problematic. hope next firmware fix this .

and for next one who want to make a comparison:

Exposure Value = 3.33 x [2 + 2 x log(aperture) + log(1/shutterspeed) - log(ISO)]

EV for first pic:
N82: 10.96
K850: 10.6

please take pictures under same exposure(and preferably same ISO)

If Plank was taking all these photos with Document mode I would say surely k850 will lose out in terms of background exposure, even if he set his EV to -0.7 That will be different case if he set to auto mode. I guess the k850 will capture the sky. I have made comparisons using document and daylight White balance to take pictures and in Daylight mode the sky and clouds can be seen whereas not in Document mode. (Clearly they dun name it document mode for nothing, SE surely must have set something.)
Plank can you try to take again now with Normal mode instead?

its NOT mine pics...its Gerban who have take this nicely pictures

and i think i read that they are shoot in auto....

here what i meant about N82 bad details on low light pics, you see clearly the lack of details on N82.

And i thought i answered that before:

Camphones can't manage large dynamic range cos they have 8 bits ADC. either sky details can be captured or ground, but not both. DSLRs have 12 bits ADC. and different light metering systems will lead to different results. in that pic K850 used slower shutter speed(i can't see EXIF but i can predict) so sky is washed out and ground is brighter. a good comparison should consider this, taking pics under same exposure.
.

having used both...and loving the k800.. i despise the k850.. for it's poor ergonomics and lens protector... i still like the SE camera UI better then nokia's .....but overall the n82 was more reliable in my shots.. (i never accidently blocked the sensor.. or ended up with a nice "black" shot cause the flash messed up...

plus pound for pound despite the n82 being ugly looking it really beats the k850 in ALL the other factors...

SE needs to step it up!

@ sadeghi, very good arguments. Agreed with you all the way.

@AbuBasim, absolutely right. That Casio comparison is hilarious

@razec, I agree N82 leaps forward featurewise but I wouldn't agree that N95 is a better solution. Only if we speak about the looks I agree (and music performance without the headphones). I bought one for my father today and it is so quiet.. Good thing tho is they put the speakers on one side.

Why can't I get pictures to look this good when I take them with my K850?!

But but do you know there is an area that K850 can take better pics than N82?

who can find it first?

can't really compair resized photos, both are equally poor 5megapixel cams they both got the colour wrong an equal amount of times, but the k850i pictures look sharper, the k850i pics look like there 5megapixels the n82 pics look like they were taken with a 2mp camera
