I think I sort of have the same point of view as mweb6161 and awave.

I don't think we should be tackling the UK's problems by extinguishing people's lives. Yes, we know there are some sickos out there but I think bringing back capital punishment is definitely a step back and not the way of a so-called civilised society.

Other solutions should be found.

^ such as?

there are only a finite number of options available, imprisonment, capital punishment, social exclusion or some other form of punishment.

Imprisonment is what we do at the moment and it sucks.

capital punishment has been banned.

social exclusion, we sort of have already filled up Australia with convicts, no more places in the Commonwealth to send them.

Other forms of punishment, would be classed as inhumane, also, a muderer, cutting their bits off, dosing them will not get rid of there desires, fantasies, thoughts... a warped mind, is a warped mind!

what else can we do?

bearing in mind it's a bit late to send everyone in the UK back to school!

I personally think the death penalty should be brought back, society is too soft these days and kids are growing up without fear. The majority know they can get away with most petty crimes (stealing, vandalism, etc) it's just a slap on the wrist with them. But the main point is yes it should be brought back but only for certain crimes, also each case should come under review by a special branch.

it could only be brought back, if there was 100% proof that it was murder and they had the right person, there would be a outrage if they started knocking off the wrong people although we could do with loosing a few million people have you seen how many people live on this planet now ? i often wonder how much the population of our country would go down if the death penalty was still in place,

I'm well aware the Sun isn't the most high brow newspaper doing the rounds, but they are not scared to ask a touchy question..

apparently 99% of the 100,000 that voted want the death penalty re-introduced..

see here

The fact that 99% of SUN readers voted for it, is perhaps argument enough NOT to bring it back

I think we should bring it back though i cannot see it happening and its not in keeping with European law. But if it was reintroduced i think our prisons might not be as full up as they are now. Some states in America recently got rid of the death penalty.

Oh i forgot to say in America you are allowed to use force against someone who breaks into your house to protect yourself. Here you get banged up for protecting yourself its pathetic. If somebody was attacking me i would protect myself by maybe knocking them out but i would try not to kill them lol. But i think the law is too much on the side of criminals today and all this human rights thing gets in the way of it. Death penalty for intended killing but not accidental killing though. What about drink drivin
