Nah, to me camera phone is only for snapshot.

As i say. Camera is being for latest priority for choosing phone
What i need is descent pda function with average multimedia features and the design is really tempting me

Red G900 is a must for me!

can anyone tell me why.... and WHY gsmarena sample pic (i know that there is only 1 or 2 pics) of the G900 are FAAR better than the samples by the Mobile-review.

that supports my previous post regarding that the M-R unit is a faulty one (or the lens is coated with a thick layer of grease

So, are the new G series just the same platform as the P990/P1 just dressed differently? Everyone keeps expecting something spectacular from SE but they seem to warm up and serve the same stuff for the last two years.
SE fan boys don't like to hear this but in the mean time its competitors are improving on their specifications. SE is running out of time to come up with innovative products. Nothing I've seen so far from SE is innovative.

Donīt tell me you realized that only today??? We have been discussing the G series role for months, and its specs...i am sure you already know all that, but sometimes bitching about SE is too strong eh???

No matter what SE haters and doubters say, SE have 2 great products in hands, and this is confirmed by everyone that has been fortunate to test those phones

The positioning of g700 and g900 is clear: bring UIQ to the masses, decent specs and touch screen on small and relatively cheap devices. And that objective will be easily reached, because they will push those phones like normal SE feature phones (k series).

But yes...camera software needs improvement.

In this case, price will make all the difference. Doesn't the G700 have touch focus? Anyway, if you don't like the G900 you can save a couple of quid and get the G700 therefore you won't be disappointed with the camera since it's 3.2mp (which will most likely give decent pictures) but pretty much everything else is the same. SE will do better with the G700 than the G900 in my opinion.

@ares,
You took the words right out of my mouth!

BTW the MR review is very positive about the G700/900 and the upcoming (6) SE "smartphones for the masses".
That is the right way to fill the gap between the regular phones and the smartphones.

@5nak3- good post there mate! The problem with 'newcomers' to phones like the G900 is when a friend flashes a nokia n82 and suddenly their phone feels utterly outdated. The sad fact here is that SE was in the leading position 2 or 3 years ago but became complacent and thought/hoped their name alone will carry them through. After 10 with Ericsson/Sony Ericsson I've left them but I hope to be back as soon as they get their house in order.

That is a great point you have there about a friend showing off a better phone and while i agree it is an issue, you could say that about almost all phones could you not?

The difference is (i know of this because i was in teh same position with the P1, despite having a fair amount of tech know-how) as a newcomer to the platform and device you will be blown away by the features. Now while i agree an N82 is probably better you must also consider price. If the review is to be belied and the price difference is about 100-150 USD that is a fair bit of money.

So while friends A may have an N82, friend B has a G900 but has saved quite a bit of money in the process. Again, and as Ares has stated we must not overlook the fact that the G series is to expand UIQ and build a strong base for UIQ to rival S60.

More UIQ phones means more popularity, if that means attracting average joe with mega pixels and touch screens in a candy bar shape so be it. I think the strategy will work well, the problem comes about when technologically capable users (most people on the forum) look at the device and think wtf is SE thinking. These users will move onto different brands for more power, but as has been stated many times we make up such a small part of the whole customer base that the G series should do well without our support.

Only time will tell, i agree with the strategy SE are following. All that remains to be seen is their implementation of it and whether or not they will correct problems the p990, m600, p1 etc.... had / have.

What can I say, the urge was just too strong
Honestly, as much as I enjoy bitching about SE I really do want them to come up with a decent phone that will make me feel like when I got my P900.
I make up a list of what I need and the P990 is still at the top of the list, Tytn II might have come second if it had an FM radio.
I'm not against a larger range of phones, everyone will have a chance to pick one to their liking. It's just that if I'm going to be looking for a replacement for my P990, it needs to have some significant improvements and none of the prospective models from SE have this.
