blink blink UI is cool however embarrassing is fact that phone released at beginning of year 2005, i mean K750/W800, can do better 2mpx photos than any other phone released after those two. we can go further and write this also about K800

camera quality is only one of many things in phone but i have to be blind to not see that SE killed opinion about SE brand as great cameraphone. moreover software problems in K850 proved that software engineers team is weakest section in SE

SE is still the best in J2ME platform implementation, also their SDK is simply the best

i agree with carkitter. I do realize that some SE's phones performance might not be up to standard compared to the old days. But, i don't think that means SE is not improving. If you keep your eye focus only on what will "used to be" the top end e.g. K850 then you are not looking on how SE truly improve their phones. Have a check at the W910, W890, P1, G900, C902, W760. Look at their SIZE. Most of these phones features what any of the older SE phones has, with less size. How thin is P1 compare to P990? how thin W910 compare to W850? how thin W890 compare to K750, W800, K800? how thin C902 compare to K850? These are one of the most remarkable achievement that SE had make. The only reason why you guys cannot appreciate this is because all of you compare it to nokia phones these days, which make all these development looks "normal".

Btw, anyone here can mention any nokia phones with 10 mm thick and feature 5 mp cam? Although i was a little dissapointed with SE in the past couple of years, im happy with my W910! Ah, not to forgot to mention that SE's screen is much better than those nokias.

I don't think that most of the people here are after thinness rather than more features. The performance of the hardware suffers because of the thinness. You can see it for example of the camera used in W890. I wouldn't really care if a SE phone had a thickness of 18-20mm as long as it is loaded with features. SE had always the stuff to make a great device but lately I think they're more into stylish phones rather than all rounders.
But hopefully this'll change this year.

Except for W900, W810, K550 and W610. See, not even this statement you've made is correct. If anything is old and rehashed it's this topic. Let's move on shall we? As others have said the latest SE phones are very impressive & satisfying and even better ones are on thier way!

Nokia at least is updating software quite well and what is more important: every update has changelog - magic list about which one SE user can only dream there is nothing wrong in current SE situation because every manufacturer is today in front of big question: what we should put in phone to interest new potential user? mid-range, top-range, something between. they don't have good answer

Btw, anyone here can mention any nokia phones with 10 mm thick and feature 5 mp cam?

you should also mention about pictures quality from this phone which is unpleasant. looks like excess of the form over content

Except for W900, W810, K550 and W610.

when i wrote about K750/W800 it was supposed to mean that first technical idea for 2mp was the best. W810, W900 was in this idea too but with step backward - no camera glass protection. small thing? maybe but most K750/W800 users were not interested to upgrade to new models because of this small thing. K550/W610 - bad choice, camera quality is still unbeaten in K750 because K550 camera is only degraded version of K750 chip which is very well visible (for example in K550 camdriver thread)

i agree, i also think that the slim and small sizes fashion is 3-4 years old, when Nokia releases the 8210,8310 and T600 for Ericsson, that was the right time maybe, but for the meantime, i really dont see that the slim and the small size phone are stylish or unique anymore, i would rally prefer a phone with nice looking design, high quality materials and build quality, with some revolutionary features, and thats why i loved sony Ericsson in the past, for instance when they released the T39m with built in bluetooth technology, or when they released the revolutionary P900i. thats what we used to have from sonyricsson, not just the same phone with a different design!!, if am going to evaluate their phones which have the exact same features with deferent design, i wouldn't finish ...

Hi all,

As someone mentioned the G series they still use the 208mhz Nexperia chip and for a smart phone even an entry level one no HSDPA in mid to late 2008 is a joke. Especially as not only do SE have HSDPA in non smart phones but all the competition do to. If the emerging rumors about the P5 also prove true how disappointing is that a Flag ship devIce with a 208mhz processor, 2.6" screen and yet again just another rehash with bigger camera and GPS as yet no confirmation again of HSDPA.

What many seem to forget is most if not all of us where Ericsson and then SE fans, but just look around the Forum and how many more compliant threads there are. Also look at just how many of us now no longer buy SE devices whilst they fail to offer the best value for money or in many cases what we want, is it really any surprise they have dropped position and profits.

Now if this is what is happening on a pro SE forum just how bad do you think it is with people that aren't just loyal to SE i think the figures say it all really. How ever much you want SE to be the best the figures just no longer support this. We keep on being told the next devices will be the ones a little like the next firmware will fix it all and neither so far is true. Just look at how many firmwares the K850 has had in the time it has been out and still many have serious problems. SE really needs to sort itself out and fast is the reality or there decline will continue what ever the loyal fans want to believe.

Marc

I'm actually beginning to think that it is too late for SE to "wake" up. I would like them to prove me wrong but I seriously doubt it. I never thought I'd see the day when the legacy of Ericsson would suffer such a dreadful end that even crappy Samsung and LG offer better and improved products.

I wouldn't call it an improvement rather a trade off. Remember that the P1 has a smaller screen than P990 and does not have a lens cover.
