It is going to be another sad story should Samsung or Nokia come up with a CCD lense 8MP phone to rival the C905. I'm saying this because those pics of this phone are actually good when compared to the C905.

I like how you say 'no way'. Nokia are bigger than SE and with practically unlimited finances and they CAN if they so decide to come up with such a phone. Are you sure they don't have an 8MP camera in the works?

I wouldn't trust Mobile-review. Anyway, my point is SE has created a situation that makes it imperative for both Nokia and Samsung to respond. As a competitor you don't want to be seen as behind in the eyes of the consumer which in turn means you fall behind.
Let's face it, to most consumers 8mp is huge particularly when they don't have sufficient knowledge of the lense quality and image processing. So, for them to see a Sony Ericsson phone with an 8mp camera on board means superior image quality comparable to a digital camera. They (consumers) are going to be rushing to buy the phone if the competition doesn't have an answer to it and Nokia and Samsung do not want SE to have it their own way.
Believe me things have changed over at Nokia and Samsung after this announcement.

Yea, they may have.But cummon, youdont expectnokia tostart devoloping a phoe nowand release it by september.If they do so, the phone will be on sale after the C905 which shall give SE enormous headground to properly market the product and get a good headstart.

I never said Nokia will release their rival at the same time as SE, I only said the C905 could be in trouble SHOULD Nokia or Samsung decide on using the CCD lense as opposed to the CMOS. Of course the C905 has a headstart and will enjoy better success until the competition arrives.
What I'm saying is that SE could've given themselves a better advantage by utilising CCD instead of CMOS due to better clarity of the former. The sooner reviews come out and say for example the Nokia or the Samsung takes better pictures than the C905 then people's perceptions of the C905 will start to change and so will their purchasing habits.
Keep in mind that the two rivals mentioned may elect not to use CCD but stick with CMOS just like SE. At this stage we're dealing with 'what ifs' so it's better to wait and see.

@Everyone:
First of all CCD is not a lens!

it's a type of image sensor, and N93 doesn't use CCD but a cmos one
