Well, I shan't say more here, but I can only hope that the W902 is as good as it looks/sounds. Cos frankly, if even that doesn't live up to my expectations, I think I may just have to switch brands.
Some good news though, I've recently decided to use my W810 for music instead of my Sony network walkman. I was pleasantly surprised as it sounds better than the latter. The only gripe I have is the popping issue.

Ok, add that to the hissing sound at low volumes. I think I can still live with it. It's hardly noticeable when I'm on public transport anyway. But there's another issue that occurred while I was typing this on my W810 using Opera Mini. An sms came in and after the message alert sounded through my earphones, my Walkman player said "Playback failed" and stopped. Tried selecting the same track again and it was alright. Strange... I have the latest firmware if that's of any importance.

Indeed, but my W810 still performs more solidly than any of the other SE phones I have. Just last night, I decided to use my Z770 which I've left in a corner ever since I got it back from the service centre. It started up fine, then all of a sudden, it displayed an error message saying "Insert simcard" again! So the trip to the service centre was in vain. It's the first SE phone I've owned that's given me such a serious problem.

I'm disappointed with my W910i too. I bought it and it was on the first Vodafone firmware I believe (038 or something) and it was perfect apart from a slight problem with playing games (the frame-rate was terrible). So I thought that an update would solve this problem. I waited and waited for an update to come along and happily upgraded. It fixed the game problem but brought with it even worse bugs.
My W910i now:
- Freezes. Most commonly during writing a text message, so I either have to wait for it to catch up or I have to type everything again if it forgot what I did the first time.
- Restarts. Very often now and even while doing the easiest task like receiving a text or changing a theme. Even while just looking through menus sometimes.
- Is extremely slow. Start up times have doubled. Browsing menus are so slow it seems crippled.
I will update again when I can in the hope that it will fix it. But to be honest I am only fixing it for my brother who I am going to sell it on to. I am getting a C902 because 90% of what I hear about it says its firmware is a lot better.
And another thing that bugs me about the W910i is that I really try to keep my phones in the best condition possible. I never ever drop my phones, scrape them or anything. I even don't rest them on hard surfaces at all. But with the W910i, the sliding mechanism scratches the phone! At the back it is slowly rubbing the paint off, on the front it has scratched right through the paint. You'd think Sony Ericsson would be able to avoid such a bad design fault.

@Oli, I'm sorry to hear about your W910. I don't care what others say, but SE has some serious problems with its new phones. I like SE phones, and if the W902 were as good as I hope it'll be, perhaps SE will redeem itself in my opinion. I'm not asking for a lot, I just want an SE phone that does as it's described, just like my W810. No hanging, no lagging, especially when playing music.
@aldrinus, we'll wait and see, I hope we'll both get a pleasant surprise with the W902.

I'm happy with my W910. I started on the first firmware, updated recently to the latest firmware (via davinci - plus debrand)
Haven't had any of the bugs mentioned for the W910 as yet.

I have had a few w910 so far.... and lots of problems. I once even paid 400 euros to get an unlkocked one in black.
I have an orange operator w910 now,a phone I was given for 49 euros and I think it is a good offer, for that money. If you get it cheap, it is good for everyday easy use, slim, nice screen, average music sound, and battery. BUt,
I regret to have paid soooo much for this model before.
I had seriour slider problems, software bugs....
SE , as I said once, is pulling the costumers' legs lately.
I hope my new w980 behaves this time.
When I mentioned my issues I was told to take care of my units, not to complaint so much...I know it was not "rude", but, I can see, this model still is not what it should be......
Specially for its price and supossed segment (high)
I hope you know what I mean...
Maybe I did not make myself clear

I've never had any kind of serious problem with any of the SE phones I've owned. T610, T100, K700, K750, K800, W800, W910 to date.
Maybe I'm just lucky, though I do look after my phones. I've flashed the shit out of most (including far manager and XS++ hacking) but I'm VERY careful when flashing. I also never update firmware until I see what bugs are present so I've managed to avoid really bad firmware releases by being patient, or fixed bugs by flashing a known good firmware (even if it's a downgrade).
I've rarely had hardware problems (crashing, white screens, restarts etc) - usually when I have it's been a result of a badly written java app.
I also take care of my phones - I never let them get damp or handle them with wet hands, never put in pockets full of coins and keys, never chuck them on hard surfaces, never fidget with sliders or lense covers (though it's tempting!).
I don't know if any of this is why I have no problems or if I'm just extremely lucky

Likewise I never had any problem with joysticks, yet my friend destroyed both joysticks in his and his wife's K750's.
Either I'm blessed by the great mobile phone god, or all the care I take pays off, one or the other
