Since Kokura is the name of a Japanese place, it could be that
is taking a previously unknown Japanese-only prototype and prepare it for the international market. But 12MP just sounds too much, actually...and not in a good sense.
Yes, that is what I said -
Kokura is a place name and also a family name so it doesn't follow the pattern of girls names.. but happy to be proved wrong.
way back on 2008-10-01. I can think of better Japanese words to break the trend of girls names.

Hello ofiaich! I guess something like this just ain't going to be true anytime soon. Maybe 1-2 years from now but obviously not in a matter of months. It's just a rumour anyway.

Hi!
Hard to say.. but there was a sudden jump from 5.0 - 8.0 ... if people suddenly believe that need a 12 mp camera/,mp3/video player/ all singing and dancing phone, then maybe the developers will proceed quickly..
I wonder, how many people own and really need a digital camera e.g. my Casio Exilim EX-Z75 7.2 mp is enough for me !

Even 10MP digital cameras are still among the best right now...

Maybe Sony has already come to terms with the threat that camera phones have on their digicam sales and are now trying to cash in on the camphone market instead. I haven't seen any 12 MP CMOS announcements at Sony Semiconductor.
Warning: Wishful thinking only: Could this mean that they will be using the
1/1.7" ICX612 sensor? The phone would be similar in size to a digicam with the same sensor size, for example the Fuji F40fd: (96x59x23mm).
Being used to disappointments from SE
, I would say probably not. They will most likely be using a yet to be announced 1/3" 12 MP CMOS sensor with a pinhole-sized lens and with picture quality comparable to what you get from
this baby.

Maybe just a little bit exaggerated.
Has it occurred to anyone why in the digicam market we only see CMOS in either really good DSLRs or very cheap keyring cameras? Either very good or very bad.

Hmmm! I wonder, that would be nice.
I remember Eldar writing that the C905 is going to lose to the INNOV8 and a lot of people here attacked him and said he is biased. So far he is winning, the INNOV8 is a better camera in terms of clarity, only loses in night shots where the Xenon flash is better.
What I'm saying is that he also mentioned that Nokia is going to demolish the C905 until SE gets back to its best with a 10Mp camera phone.
So, thinking about your post Abu and what Eldar said the upcoming 10/12Mp camera phone from SE could be using a Sony digicam module/sensor considering that Eldar called it a "monster" camphone.

Now
that would be the perfect replacement for my old i-mobile 902!
Basically that's what Samart (actually ASUS), LG and Gigabyte did a couple of years ago. They took a real 5 MP CCD digicam sensor (same one used in for example Canon's SD450 and SD30) and put it in a camphone. If SE did the same with a 12 MP CCD then they would win my lifetime loyalty
