I am definitely getting this when it comes out here in NZ. First day of release hopefully and I can't wait! I already have the money set aside!

I have some high end white Sony headphones at the moment, to go with my current white Sony Walkman. I guess I'm going to have to fork out for some new black ones for this if the headphones are as bad as you guys say! Probably go for some more top end Sonys, but even they are expensive!

@goldenface I'd recommend some Sennheiser CX500's, @arien617 has them also i think, stunning headphones for the price - can pick em up on Amazon for Á£30 - so they're in the mid-range price section

Ooooh, close. I have the CX400s, and they're a brilliant pair for the price! I got mine for just over £30 delivered, and they're perfect. Isolate sound well, stop leakage well too and the quality is up there!
The 400s come in a range of colours; not sure if the 500s do too, but my guess is that they will.

Had some 500`s but thought they sounded "tinny" and hollow?, so went back to my 300`s. the 500`s have a cheap slider volume that does nothing for the sound quality. Now the 300 are out as a MK2 but not had a listen as yet.

Off topic i know but headphone sound quality is very subjective and a lot of it is down to personal opinion. Funny how the Sennieser are amongst the most copied headphones out there and have been for a while, ebay full of cheap copies of them

As for the new sony player..........good to see some competition in the market but its typical for sony (or any jap manufacturer for that matter) to smother it in technolgy rather than get the sound right in the 1st place!

Would it not be worth investing in a set of headphones costing more than £50 - is the difference not worth the cost?

You wouldn't want the headphones to the the weakest link in the 'sound quality chain' really, especially if you're gonna fork out £200+ for a PMP

Bose QuietComfort 2s are brilliant for their price! £100, and for the quality, it's definitely worth it. Go to a Bose store and try them out for yourself.
