I said "Govt conspiracy" not conspiracy theory.
I've mentioned it before so I won't go into it in depth. Basically the French Govt conspired against Greenpeace by sending French agents to Auckland to blow up the Greenpeace Protest vessel Rainbow Warrior in 1985. I was 13 at the time, I remember it well.
A real live government conspiracy not of the magnitude of 9/11, but still unable to be kept under wraps. The truth does get out eventually.
If you follow the wikipedia link you'll find PT Barnum loved to create hoaxes and make money off them.
I would say that most conspiracy's are believed to be done or initiated by governments anyway so call it "Govt conspiracy" or "Conspiracy theory" its still goes back to the powers that be.
Your Rainbow Warrior sounds like less of a conspiracy more of a government plot gone wrong but things like that have happened throughout history and will continue to happen but conspiracy's such as 9/11 are a lot more complex but like you say the truth does eventually come out so hopefully this one will come out too? I don't see how PT Barnum comes into this though? he was just someone who loved creating hoaxes conspiracy theories have a lot more to them if your trying to suggest that they are all hoaxes?

When two or more people plot to commit a crime, that's a conspiracy.
A govt conspiracy is when ministers in a govt knowingly (and usually secretly) authorise govt resources to commit a crime.
A conspiracy theory is when someone not involved in the conspiracy thinks that two or more people have plotted to commit a crime but they don't have proof, only allegations and they hope that the weight of public opinion will bring retribution upon the accused 'conspirators'.
A hoax is when you successfully and knowingly decieve two or more people into believing something that isn't true causing them to act on that belief.
Some conspiracy theorists genuinely believe their conspiracy. Others are trying it on.

Ok right so what if the people not involved in the conspiracy can show evidence or proof to back their theory?for example if someone or anyone can provide some evidence for their so called "conspiracy theory" then that automatically makes it a government conspiracy theory right? in essence making it a conspiracy theory against the government
