I'd like to say a huge thank you to Tallis for the o2 e-mail settings. Having spoken to carphone warehouse, the o2 shop and o2 customer services and 4 months later STILL having no e-mail settings, tonight I sent and received my first e-mail on my T68i. It takes good people in forums such as this to help each other, as I'm sure people who work for the phone company's are not briefed on the information they need to help.

Thanks once again.

The Sony Ericsson site has a configurator that'll send a message direct to your mobile that'll do it for you. Go to www.sonyericsson.com/uk and click on the Configurators link.

Worked for my T-Mobile GPRS with BlueYonder and Virgin email accounts.

If you get/have gprs, you can usually get away with keeping your existing gprs data account by adding new e-mail accounts to connect via that profile - if not set-up a copy data account & name it something else.

then goto messages >> email the edit add new account:

connect using - blueyonder grps data account (or whatever data account you want - useaully needs an internet APN - a wap APN won't work >>
protocol - pop3 >>
inc server - pop3.blueyonder.co.uk >>
port - 110 >>
mailbox - my mail user name >>
password - my mail password >>
outgoing server - smtp.blueyonder.co.uk >>
port - 25 >>
address - me/you/us/them@blueyonder.co.uk >>
download - headers only or both >>
from name - thats easy >>
no signature >>
copy outgoing - nope >>
check interval - I have this switch off - or T68 will dial/connect every now & then & my network charge me for the pleasure.

BUT...The other thing with blueyonder is you have mailboxes, & profiles with-in these mail boxes - you will need to set-up a new mailbox & add a new profile solely for mobile pop3 use - the T68 wont download e-mails if you have say 2 or 3 aliases under the same mailbox

Plus it only seems to connect to the server if you have any new e-mails? Thats what Ive found so far anyway - their help pages aren't to brilliant. If I find out more or anything is wrong I'll be back to edit the post

there are a few things i would liek to add

1) blueyonder wont let any IP addy to connect to there smtp server. so unless you are using a blueyonder ip to connect to gprs then u wont be able to send email.

2) ill try that thing with the message aliases as i cant connect to the server but i have 3 ailes to my 1 inbox

nope still dont work i made a dedicated ailias for my mobile pop axx

nope still cant connect to server

can some 1 please tell me what is wrong with my email settings

connect using: O2 Wap GPRS
protocol: pop3
inc. server: pop3.blueyonder.co.uk
inc. port 110
mailbox: rw0******_2
password: ********
outgoing server: smtp.o2.co.uk
outgoing port: 25
email addy: myailias@blueyonder.co.uk
download: headers and text

it comes up with a message saying cannot find server

here is the setup for t-mobile's email service, i'm using t-mobile gprs on my t300 and this is good! after trying boltblue - wouldn't connect, hotpop - 24 hour delay! and others, grrrr...

protocol: pop3
inc. server: pop3.t-email.co.uk
incoming port: 110
mailbox: (username)
password: (password)
outgoing server: pop3.t-email.co.uk
outgoing port: 25
e-mail address: (username)@t-email.co.uk

anyone can use this service i think, just register at www.t-email.co.uk, it's not linked to your mobile account!

UK: BtInternet/BTOpenworld DIAL-UP on Vodafone

First of all, use the Ericsson Configurator (accessible from the following link, by clicking on 'Global support', then configurators: http://www.sonyericsson.com/uk/spg.jsp?page=start, then email configurator – I used BT - 0845). Configure the phone following the instructions. These will then need editing!!!

On your phone, go to:
Connect (8)
Data comm (7)
Data accounts (1)

and select BT Internet (0845), then Edit (1)
1. Phone number = 448457560000
2. User id = name.name@btinternet.com (or btopenworld.com)
3. Password = your password
4. Passwd request = Off
5. Data rate = 28.8 kbits/s
6. Dial type = ISDN
7. DNS address = …

Then, on your phone, go to:
Messages (2)
E-mail (4)
Options (7)
Set account (1)

And set the account to BTInternet (0845)

Then, again under Options (7), Edit account (2)

and edit BTInternet (0845):

1. Connect using = BTInternet (0845)
2. Protocol = POP3
3. Inc. server = 194.73.73.90
4. Incoming port = 110
5. Mailbox = name.name@btinternet.com (or btopenworld.com)
6. Password = your password
7. Outgoing server = 194.73.73.90
8. Outgoing port = 25
9. Email address = name.name@btinternet.com (or btopenworld.com)
10. Download = Headers text

and the rest is as you choose.

Then, don't forget:

On your phone, go to:

Then, again, Rename (2), rename the data account to VodaGPRS-mail

Lastly, go back to the WAP configurator and send another Vodafone GPRS data account which will be used for wap (and which I rename to VodaGPRS-wap)

Dutch setings:

"Zonnet Gratis" "Server inkomend".
Hier staat "pop3.zonnet.nl" verander dit in "62.58.50.10"
Kies OK en ga naar "Uitg. Server".

Succes
