I agree with NYK which is an odd thing, because in my opinion the first part of his location doesn't even exist and I'm sure that on most subjects we wouldn't agree on anything.... but as long as we are all calm and mature about it there is no reason not to add a little spice to a "mobile technology" forum and discuss certain current affairs.

@raven, dude your comment is totally out of place, I actually can understand you though with you being from Norway and everything, I believe that you are so not connected to reality that you don't understand the pain the american and israeli people are going thru when the 7 best that they can offer are disentegrated... I believe as I would hope most people here do believe that this is a big deal, sure Iraqi children are important too, but then that's what America is doing with the proposed war; by replacing the horrible dictatorship driven by a madman, they are giving hope to the children of Iraq. Why don't you crawl out of that little hole you are writing from, see some world, come to places where what you see on the news are daily happenings for some of us, and then only then you might have the humbling right to express your opinions in a fashion that we might give a sh*t about them.

It's really hard to avoid political discussions, I mean just look at this thread.. slightest thing sets of a reaction.
This thread asked the question why some other thread was deleted, and now this thread is no much different than the ones who were deleted.. you just can't avoid political talk cause it's peoples opinions, and people always want to express their opinions.

I understand why some want to be able to discuss politics here at esato, and why some don't.
My opinion (hehe, I have an opinion) is that moderators leave the political forums just the way they are, unless it gets out of hand, and delete posts that goes to far instead of the whole topic. I know this is time-consuming and no fun, but esato-users can send a mess to an moderator if there's something or someone that needs to be censored (like racism, foul language or bad behaviour).
Cause there are a lot of people out there who can discuss their views without losing their minds.
One must be able to express ones opinion, if it's in the right forum.. unless it's just a way to piss poeple off.

My suggestion is that esato-users keep watch and report misbehaivour to help the nice moderators.. =)

Firstly, what an interesting thread - that is, the main theme of what should be allowed on Esato and what should not.

However, rather than approach this from an ethical point of view (surely the preserve of the originators of this site?), I would suggest the, as yet, unmentioned pratical viewpoint determines the rules. You see its all ends up being about the medium itself. The web allows us the opportunity to interact. Sure, moderators can to a degree censor after the event. But at the end of the day, a determined poster can continue to post his/her views at will and as often as they want. The majority might not like it, but whilst the medium itself is the gateway to discussion, cencorship by those who run the site is by definition merely an expression of intent.

I very much respect your position, and I feel we probably share many of the same political views.

I would love to believe that everyone on Esato is mature, calm and rational enough to discuss this issue. However, judging by previous threads, I can assure you such a thread would rapidly deteriorate into rampant flaming, name calling and hate spewing. Even some of the comments found on this very page demonstrate the severity of some people’s ignorance.

There is no possible way for anyone here to adequately present all the historical background required to make a moral judgment on the issue. If allowed to continue, only short (and probably inaccurate) statements, taken totally out of context, will be thrown around, accusing the other side of wrongdoing.

@Wuz

There are no constitutional amendments protecting free speech on Esato. Do you suggest it is wrong for the site owners to realize their ‘intent’ by restricting threads or banning abusive users?

Can't Esato be a refuge for those wanting to escape all the political turmoil in the world?

If this topic is so important to you, please create your own board and post a link here on Esato so interested parties can visit.

i think the Iraq war, is the the biggest LIE in history..
There was a document leaked into an arabic newspaper, which showed why the Yanks want the Oil in Iraq..

As for helping the iraqi children, then wat about the continued bombimg of the north and south, and the economic sanctions

lol... I'm the one who's not connected to reality? How naive can a person get... You are telling me to watch the news, I am telling you to NOT believe everything you hear/read! And FYI I've travelled the world and know what's going on, you're the one who needs to crawl out of your hole. And even if I didn't have a clue I still have every damn right to express my opinions.

@fijbert, and everyone else for that matter. "american ignorance," I can't see how you can even say that until you come and meet every last one of us. I admit I have met alot of stupid people, but we all aren't ignorant, nor do we think we are the center of the world. Actions our government takes does not necessarily reflect our opinions. I have no say-so what goes on in Washington. There is nothing I can do about it. But this whole americans think they are better then us attitude you have, along with many other people, is crap. Never once have I myself(and most all people I know) ever thought I was better then someone else. I'm sorry, I'm just sick of hearing stuff like that when you don't know me, so why do you assume all of us, including me whom you don't know, are like that? Thats just harsh..........Ok I'll shut up now.
