I'm in on that. And while we're at it, why not make them release a SW that makes it possible to write mails with the actual key flip, and t9. This message was posted from a P800

Is there a person who would gladly write an impressive letter requesting T9? Volunteers?

First we need to find out where to send it. And it has to be very impressively written. I'll sign on it, that's for sure. This message was posted from a P800

The T68i and current models with predictive use Sony's own version of predictive text.

I'm hoping that Sony's predictive input can be ported to UIQ.

I agree that the P800 does NEED the T9, maybe some of you enjoy the handwriting recognition, but it is a bit of a hassle...

I think for such an "advanced" piece of technology, it's a bit dumb that they didn't include something as "ancient" as T9

Personally i think it`s a bit of a nineties fix & as phones are likely to have voice recognision text input soon, it makes all hand input modes look silly.
A voice input app could even be in the pipeline for p8 ?????

isn't a big part of the appeal of sms that you can send messages silently, without disturbing people around you? if you're going to dictate your message to someone on the phone, why not just call them? it'd probably be cheaper..

i'd be surprised if they ever develop that level of voice recognition, it'd be costly on hardware (i doubt even the p800 has that sort of processing power) and the applications of it would be pretty few and far between.

text messaging by voice recognition does seem a bit daft!! I am often in places where i cant make a phone call but can text.

What is next, a piece of software for mobile phones that translates your t9 input (obviously not on the p800) and converts it to voice so you can have a phone conversation with someone without actually speaking?!?!?

Sms is also about reading a message at the recievers convenience, & a voice input sms can still be READ silently & you would still have the option to tap in a message silently if you wanted, same as in car when its a bit shakey you could speak the message in.
Anyway, i have no problem whatsoever with your plight to get t9 on the p800.
The only reason i added comments on this thread was because the title & comments in Bloomp`s first post was an unfair statement on people like me,i HAVE a p8, i WAS quick on t9 & LIKE the qwerty input.
If you want to stop me having my say then why not title the post,
"who wants to see T9 on the p800"

dictating a message by voice to someone that can't take a call... is that not kind of like leaving a voicemail message? i just don't see the point in this sort of voice recog in phones. compared to the massive investment it would take- in r&d for the phone builders, and sheer hardware costs to the users (both in terms of price and phone-bulk)- the actual usage would be minimal.

i don't have a p800, and i've got no plans to get one. but unless phones are about to start reading your mind, and as long as they do still have keypads, i'd expect t9 in any new phone.
