While the battery life results are great, camera and display seem to be quite disappointing GSMArena says even the Galaxy Alpha takes better stills and video

I think you noticed the lower contrast ratio? It got brighter, but the black levels did suffer. Everything else were good, better even like the sunlight contrast ratio. Gotta wait for PA for their additional display tests.

Doesn't matter how high the brightness is, contrast ratio is what matters overall. Sure it would be more legible in bright sunlight, but it does lose overall quality. The contrast ratio is lower than Z1 Compact and significantly lower than Z1.

Things are turning out to be the same all over again

^Wel, they did not say anything bad about what they saw. And I don't think that it majorly impairs the overall quality. With everything else brighter, I don't think the grayer blacks would be noticeable.

As for the camera, it did improve, but still a wee behind.

Sony's achilles heal on the the z1-z3 seems to be noise, still evident in some photos. The pretty shitty part is the panorama mode, so poor it hurts, using Google's camera, I can get amazing panoramas with much much higher quality. Shame, guess sony still need to fix this.

there is also a 12800 image, which tells me nothing, since I have no idea how the original lighting looks like.

If you compare the z2 and z3c, there is quite an improvement in image quality, bringing up a question, is this improvement due to new software/algorithm or a modified sensor?

At last Sony fixed their camera issues, look at the difference in quality, it's just miles away, with same sensor... It's a win and shame for Sony at the same time. Win because finally they provide quality, and shame because they do it so late, and with the same sensor, which brings questions, why such a big difference? Same goes for video. And yes, it's time for me to say it, Z3C camera quality is very good, might be even the best among android. I'm impressed.

funny how the display stats of the z1c and z3c don't reflect in the photos.
everywhere, the z3c display appears to be the significantly better display.

i'm happy enough with the camera. the hardware aspect seems good enough. if we want a different way of processing images, we can use other camera software.

the z3c for me is practically the best smartphone this year.
and we need to highlight its relatively low PRICE

I dont think the gsmarena's display test is accurate. According to the brazilian youtube review i have watched, z3 compact's display brigthness only maxes outs up to 549 cd (~590 for z3) which is inline with 600cd that Sony promised. Ill take their display test with a pinch of salt.
