the reason that free insurance has not been put on your account will be that you have registered as a private user. it is only available free to those who sign up and register in a business name.

thats not really the issue.. it's as Simon_Levi says, if you are on the HSCD tariff (whether personal or business) the website claims it should come with Orange Care included.

if you look at the web address, it says plainly it is in the business section.

http://www.orange.co.uk/talkplans/hscsd/

There's a better link for you then. That's in the personal section, and still says it includes Orange Care.

AFAIK, I DO have orange care on my HSD tariff - i have been told by two C/S people that i do, and i have their names. However, i have also saved the hsd tariff information too, and it really does still indicate to me that Orange Care is included.

This is from: http://www.orange.co.uk/talkplans/hscsd/

Accessed from the "Personal" section of the Orange website.

apologies, you are right. i have just spoken to orange dealer line and you do get free care if you subscribe to the £10/month hscsd tariff. the p800 is not listed as a smartphone, so you should get the free insurance on that as well.

edit: the p800 is a smartphone after all. orange have just rung me back to say so. sorry.

Just though I'd add my 10p here - Unlocking your handset will NOT void your Orange Care (though may do manufacturers) - if it f**ks up your phone, thats your tough luck.

Plus if you unlock your handset & it goes faulty, Orange/Ericsson will supply you a locked handset - so you will have to Pay/have it unlocked again.

The hscsd talkplan DOES NOT have free care for P800's. It is a smartphone....which you have to pay for.

EDIT: posted this before I saw orangemans post. Out of interest, why orangeman, do you actually work for Orange?

Ah well, they didn't tell me that! They can phone up and tell me if they want to, but i expressly purchased the P800 from Orange on their information that the HSD tariff would include Orange Care for the phone. Thus if they want to change our contract to my detriment, by now removing Orange care from me, i'll have due cause to cancel the contract early and go find insurance somewhere else.

By that token, is the 7650 a 'smartphone' too? What makes a phone a 'smartphone'? Because if orange say something about calendar, email client, html browser - i think you'll find most current phones are smart enough to have all of those features already included, or immediately installed by most users as a java application.

@simion_levi - Y do I work for Orange????? Cos it pays the mortagage

There is a prompt on the system at work that says 'This handset does not include free care' The operator is supposed to relay this to you...

7650 aint smart or clever...but all handset will be classed as smart phones soon cos they will be 3G & html browsers - PM me your number.

No, sorry - meant why's your nick 'orangeman'?! Not why do you work for them!

sending pm

EDIT: So i take it the P800 does not have this prompt then? Why did they ring back the member above and tell them it is a smartphone, and why do they tell Andy_P that orange care is no longer included?
