The CPW can't upgread the p800 (That's what i have been told) although it's the same cable for the p800, T68 and T28

The closest cervice centre to central london is in wimbildon
The upgrade is big, and that it takes 2 hours...
their number is
08700133035
and
02089716100
The closest station is Tooting Broadway then take the buss (44) untill the second roundabout, and walk along where a pub (Prince of wales) will be on your left, directly after a car seller turn left

@kire

I did a master reset again and pu the organizer and the phonebook and it manual again.Do you think that the backup did any harm ?
I did a hard reset so removed the backup Lets hope I didn't remove the essential files? but arent those in the ROM ?

Does anybody know where I can get the language files for R2D

It is absolute crap if you have to install every piece of software after getting the phone upgraded. I spoke to an SE engineer in the data team and he said that the upgrade flashed the ROM and that you should be able to restore after the upgrade. I have imstalled about twenty apps since getting the phone and if I have to install themn all gaian due to a flash upgrade then someone in this forum can have a cheap P800.

As far as this guy was concerned the upgrade components are all in the ROM, not on the writeable portion, i.e. C: drive (which is how it should be!). I would be interested to find out if the gentleman who wrote above that he lost the audio capability with the flip closed had overwritten an udated system file when he restored. I was beginning to like SE but not being able to restore after an upgrade is the worst example of programming I have ever seen, and I have owned a software development company for ten years and been in development for twenty-five.

If SE want to develop a phone with PDA capabilities then they had better design it right - on this thread it appears they screwed it up.

Conflicting message here for UK users.

Can CPW upgrade the software (forgetting about orange issues for the time being) on the p800 of do I have to go to a proper SE service centre (which aren't that close to me!!)?

Thanks

But it's the same cable for the p800, T68 and T28, so i had to go to a servoce centre
If anyone was able to upgread please tell me so i can upgread there the next time

The CPW service point in Sheffield told me they have access to the new firmware and can do the upgrade free under SE UK 12 month warranty but are not authorised to do Orange branded P800's.

Only option to get an Orange P800 upgraded at present is through SE Service point or you can send it off to Celestica (SE Service centre) and get it done in max 10 day turnaround.

I phoned them and they said they have the latest firmware & can do Orange brand.

Spoke to Orange & they couldn't understand the CPW comment & told me to get the upgrade done at a SE Service Point.

I am looking to send mine off to them tomorrow.

Hope this helps.
