I guess if it had been a 'warranty repair' (FOC) then they might have asked for my proof of purchase.. but no, they didn't. (I mean c'mon.. how long has the phone been out anyway.. lol)
Helen.
P.S. The only problem I have found with R2D is that it doesn't allow me to paste things directly into the 'Other' folders anymore... on phone or memory stick... hmmm.... gives an error message saying basically I am not allowed to do that!! And I can't paste folders directly , I have to create them then paste files in.. but maybe it did that before anyway...?

I got my phone upgraded to R2D from Comm-Tech in Martham yesterday. Had to wait 3 hours for it to be done. I didn't get a list of changes - is it true that SE have added in a way for users to upgrade their phones themselves? That would be sweet, as Martham (Great Yarmouth) is more than an hour away from me and very inconvenient.

@ Rumik im going to commtech to get my phone software updated on tuesday, i went a few weeks ago and had to wait 4 hours because it was the first p800 they had ever got in to update and they had trouble doing it lol. when i got it back it was only a r1f update so i was well upset about wasting all that time. Im going from great yarmouth on the bus so im stuck walking around martham till its done i think i walked round the whole town 3 times before and ended up going in the pub nearby. At least the updates free though i dont know how all these places can charge when sony ericsson told me all updates will allways be free as long as the phone is on warranty and you have proof of purchase. hmmmm.
@ pphillips001 just phone your service provider and ask them to send the gprs settings to your phone. Im with orange and u can just call the helpline on 156 and get all the settings sent straight to the phone. if that fails just goto
http://www.sonyericsson.com/uk/spg.jsp?page=start and click on "configurators" then just select what u need sending and follow the instructions. hope this helps.

Yeah that pub - did you get the feeling that the people inside were thinking "We don't like strangers round here"? (Imagine a thick Norfolk accent). Kinda scary.
Oh well. I'm happy.

@thierry you should do a search for basic info but anyway on applications select "view" (top middle of screen) and select system information and you will see all u need

with the upgrade, can you still view mp4s that worked with the r1d software, as in 160 * 120. is it still the same quality, and is it still the same display??

There are a few Sony Ericsson Service centers in the US.
I would also like to note that the name of this firmware pack is R2A. The reason I mention this, is because there may be an R2B, R2C, R2D in the future.
