it's not a big brick but a small brick, ok a wall tile. just because the t610 is mostly metal (but has plastic too)does not mean that it is cool or better than the others. if it were titanium then it 's cool but it's made of weak, easily scratched, dented and costly to replace aluminium. SE just copied nokia in using metals (magnesium alloys, titanium) in their phones. i prefer plastic due to it is cheaper and very easy to replace and more customizable like the body kits of a sports car. the t610 is ugly.

What? Ericsson 388 used magnesium, by then Nokia didn't know what magnesium was...

@ Prowler_28
I think you answered your own question. There is no way that orange are going to release a 3G tariff that can com close to competing with any otehr tariffs. What is it - last I heard it was a minimum £40 per month contract, and for that you could probably get a free T610.
In answer to your question though, of course I would go for the spookily cheap 3G tariff and phone. But that is like asking "If you could have a Porsche Turbo or a Pagani Zonda, and they both cost the same, wouldn't you go for the Pagani?", when the answer is obviously yes, but the argument is invalid because yuo have eliminated the primary flaw of the article in question.
You get nowhere by drawing comparisons with any 3G phones. The technology is still far away, and the area of competition is completely different.
The topic asks whether or not it is "a brick", and you choose a phone which by comparison is much more resembling a brick - the thickness to width to height ratio is much closer, thus being more brick like. Besides, the picture you are showing of the T610 is not the best - see the link below for a better idea of how slim the phone is.
I would also point out that not all square objects are bricks. A flatpanel monitor, for example, is quite different to a television due to it's thickness (or lack of it).
And yes, SE had alloy and magnesium phones way before Nokia. Get you facts right before you come on here spouting BS.

ouch! right in the behind

a good insight of BS coming from a SE user. but would got for the porsche hands down. still SE could not beat nokia even if they have the most feature packed phones.

the t610 is sexy, because of its simplicity.

I would have preferred a more innovative design. The T68 deserved a better-looking successor. At least it has great features.
