Did you know that all LG phones are made from Ericsson Platforms? LG are licensing core Ericsson Platform Technology to all its phones. Actually a lot of manufacturers do, Siemens have lot of Ericsson Platform Technology in its phones (not all but a lot of them S55 for an example). So, Ericsson (that is not SonyEricsson) is actually having a larger share of the market know than it had before the joint venture with Sony. Again, that is Ericsson, not SonyEricsson. There is even more manufacturers using Ericsson Platforms, but these are not yet offical. Just an intresting fact is it not?

this means that all other makes of phones nokia se etc have to pay motorola just to make a phone

Actually i belive Ericsson has the most patents. This was one of the major reasons to why Sony choose to merge with Ericsson. This is according to their Sonys CEO. Though Motorola has a lot of patents for CDMA etc Ericsson has more for GSM and UMTS (thats i 3-G).

samsung use nokia and ericsson technologie. and 2 smaller company's like benfon have a lisence on ericsson. just take a look at the menu of the new LG phones. its like the old ericsson phones but instead of the number are up there to the right.
hmm motorola has so 11/13 parts. nice, so thats were they get all there money from.
