Well, I do use that very frequently without even noticing it.
E.g. you get a phone call in the middle of a game, and you can continue the game afterwards. I can change profiles etc while doing something. I can start writing an sms in the middle of something else or whatever. I can leave my browser open, go check something in the notes, calendar, take a picture and come back to the browser. Etc. You name it

I can think of some things that distinguish smartphones from regular phones...
- Ability to customize te menus and user interface.
- Integration of PDA functions with phone.
- Availabitily of third party software that add additional functions to the phone.

@ Super G
How old am I? 31 does that make me too old to dislike Nokia phones is that what you mean??? Anyway I do own a number of Nokia phones just that found out they sucks after I started using T68i not to mention P800 and now T610.
Anyway it cost just 100+ more here to get a P800 rather than the oddly shape 3650 without touch screen so which one you would prefer?
And please guys stop comparing T610 with Symbian based Phones they are not even close and totally different.

Definitely prices will drop and competitors keep coming up with more superior phones. But till then who knows what and this will be endless someday you find yourself implanted with phone in your brain then you start comparing brains. If you like it buy it and be contented with it cos it's your choice it may suit you but it doesn't suit others

SuperG:
Just some comments to the multitasking things you mentioned:
I have a T39. On that I can start writing an SMS. Then I can go out of it, do something else on the phone (or even get a phonecall), and it's stored in the "unsent"-folder.
The same thing about surfing on the wap. I can leave the browser, do something else, and later continue where I left it...
And my girlfriend has a 3510i. On that there is a game, Skydiver. When I play it, and there is an incoming call, the game exits, and later on I can resume right where I left...
Isn't that quite much like the 7650 and others?

Hey I can do stuff like that too with my T300. I can call someone, and in the same time play games or write MMS, SMS you name it, but the webbrowser isnt in that way though.

do you really mean that the Nokia 3G phone whips all other manufacturers asses? I don't think so. It's a BIG phone, with an external antenna! It doesn't even have the opportunity of video calls... It doesn't have memory extension.
NOPE I DID NOT MEAN THAT AND FULLY READ THE 6600'S SPECS.
But it's out now (Austria as the only place in Europe), but who cares? So far I haven't seen or heard about a single 3G phone here in Vienna. There are some, but not many. It's too expensive for most people. We have to wait till fall before the 3G rush starts. But then again; it will be a slow start, as the phones will be very expensive, and so also the prices of the operators. And this fall SE will have their Z1010 on the market, and Siemens will have their, as well as other manufacturers.
YUP LIKE NOKIA. YOU ALL THINK THAT NOKIA IS FAR BEHIND BUT WHAT I SEE IS NOKIA HAS WHAT se HAS. AS I HAVE STATED BEFORE, I HAD A FEELING NOKIA HAS A PHONE LIKE THIS IN THEIR ARSENAL. THEY KNOW THE FORMULA TO BE NO.1 AND TO STAY ON TOP. THEY EVEN INCREASED THEIR MARKET SHARE AND WIDENED THEIR LEAD FROM THE 2ND SPOT CO.
And I also see that you write that SE doesn't have Symbianbased phones? Well, that is not true at all. P800 is based on Symbian OS v7, while Nokia and Siemens stick to v6.
I DID NOT WRITE THAT AND I KNOW THAT P800 USES SYMBIAN BUT MOST HERE SAY THAT SYMBIAN IS FULLY MADE BY NOKIA.
Btw, you can't compare 6600 to P800, as those phones head for different targets. P800 heads for business men, while 6600 heads for teenagers.
WRONG AGAIN BUB, GO TO THE NOKIA WEBSITE AND SEE WHAT THE PHONE IS TARGETED FOR.
Can 6600 read pdf-files? Excel-files? Powerpoint presentations? And why only GPRS class 6?!? Even though 6600 hits the shelves a year after the P800, it still hasn't got faster internet! Thought you said "P800-killer"...
I DID NOT SAY P800 KILLER, I SAID THAT THE PHONE HAS NOT BEEN RELEASED BY NOKIA YET. HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT THE PHONE DOES NOT DO ALL THESE THINGS (PDF,EXCEL ETC.)HAVE YOU TESTED ONE ALREADY. WHAT IF IT'S CLASS 6 ONLY? THE SPEED OF CONNECTION ALSO DEPENDS ON THE NETWORK, SERVERS ETC.
And you can't say that 6600 rules the market! It isn't on the market yet! And you still have to wait half a year for it... Maybe you can get one as a Christmas present? If you're lucky...
OH YES IT WILL. MY SIMPLE READON IS NOKIA WILL STAY NO.1 DUE TO THIS PHONE AND I DO NOT NEED LUCK LIKE TO GET THIS PHONE. DON'T CARE IF IT'S CHRISTMAS OR NEXT YEAR. I CAN BUY IT EVEN IF IT COSTS A LOT AND I CAN ALSO BUY A 3G PHONE EVEN IF IT COSTS A LOT.
SYMBIAN OS BUGGY? YEAH RIGHT. THE P800 HAS SYMBIAN BUT IT'S STILL BUGGY SO IT MEANS THAT THE HARDWARE IS THE PROBLEM.
