If anyone is interested, I just got an HPM-30. I will be the first to admit that it has some serious shortcomings, such as battery life. It eats AAA's like no tomorrow, but it is a BT device that is quite handy when I am stolling with my P900 or my T610. Oh, on the music side, it will play either MP3's or the Sony ATAC(such a shame). All in all I think that this is a progressive step for SE.

Did I sound like I was jealous of the iPOD owners?

New iPod mini announced yesterday...

4gb storage, 1000 songs, credit card sized

$249 (maybe £199)

http://www.apple.com/ipodmini/

Plus, great new earphones for existing iPods. Like my white Sony ones but by Apple:

Once again the BBC have given Apple some more free advertising by having the iPod mini launch as a news item:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3373031.stm

For a company with around 5% market share (depending on region) Apple gets far more media coverage than I'd expect. I don't see other companies with such a small market share getting so much.

Maybe the BBC web news team are Apple fans?

BBC News Video report about it all here too (RealPlayer direct link, not QuickTime!)

Yeah, they are by far the best earphones I've ever used. The sound is amazing and they are really comfortable. Always (before these) earphones would start hurting my ears after about 30 minutes... I've worn these ones for hours and they remain as comfortable as the first minute. In fact I don't even feel them. And they match the iPod perfectly.

These new Apple ones look heavily 'inspired' by the Sony MDR EX71s. It will be interesting to compare them. The Apple ones are actually cheaper than the import (from Hong Kong) price of the Sony's. (The white ones are only available on import from Asia).
