These are cheap kits if you look at my first post I said you can get a kits for $150. Did you know 150 is almost 6 times more then the prices that I mentioned before!!! thats means it will be a bigger kit and better quality. bigger enough to do the whole P800!
Hehehe, you still don't get it do you! THESE KITS ARE FOR METAL NOT PLASTIC! Is it clear now? You cannot use these on your P800!!! Jeezuz!

Chroming or electroplating (by the way ZenMaster, you were wrong. Those cheapo kits you mentioned cannot be used on plastic)? Have we all gone raving mad?

Surely there's no way to do it anyway? You need to run a current thru the object you're chroming - which is impossible as it's made out of plastic. Correct me if I'm wrong and I'll stand corrected

yes if you are chroming, but plating works different only the surface needs to be metalized. bla bla blaaaaaaaaa

Aren't there plastics that behave like metals?

I have had LOADS of chroming done,(95% of the job is the polishing) those DIY kits are for nuts & bolts, proper chroming is Copper, nickel & chrome (triple plating), some companys leave out the Copper. its done by Polishing, acid bath dipping & then into the oppropriate electroplating baths with the previouusly mentioned metals.
Plastic parts cannot be plated in this way under ANY circumstances.
You can chrome plate an APPLE if you want, but non metal things have to be coated with a conductive film (some systems use Carbon dusting) these systems are NOT available for DIY use & are expensive setups for mass production, the labour cost to have a p800 case done would be enormous, also you would need a p800 case in RAW plastic, not one thats been already painted blue/silver by SE.
And note, NO paint will look like chrome, no matter what it says on the tin.

Well since some specialists are gathering here...
Would anyone her know how the buttons on the T610 or the T600 or the t300 and some other phones get their aluminium look?
I would guess it is just sprayed (metallic) paint on plastic but if so it would have to wear off and it doesn't (fortunately).
