> How do you afford the latest mobile phone?
Bookmark topic
People who are very interested in mobiles are often people who have a fascination for maths, this means getting money is often not the issue, it's "how exiting you can make it" thats the issue.
It's all about attitude,
When you see something you want, you need to say to yourself, "how can i legally get this thing without it costing me any money" you have to BELIEVE there is a way.
Then the next step is to say to yourself, i can't have it untill i find that solution.
Buy low, sell high, i apply this to everything i buy, (exept food) credit cards & borrowing IS NOT the way to do it, but it you are strong minded you can make money by cashing in on other peoples weakness,
I have often been refered to by friends as "lucky" because i dont have to go to work but i have an expensive car, i own (not mortgage) my home.
however, i was born into an extremely poor family which made me respect every single penny i got my hands on.
Get up early on a Sunday morning, go to a car boot sale, find something for a £1 that you can sell for £10 & then simply apply the psychology to your entire life.
LUCK is where OPPORTUNITY meets PREPERATION !!

My job also pays my mobile bill so I am lucky in that sensed, though I do have two seperate phones for business and personal use, but I end up using my P900 for both.
To be honest the question of money is always going to be extremely vulgar, I'm really not into public displays of wealth, I think its a bit crass. That's not to say that one shouldn't enjoy nice things or a good standard of living, I apply this rule to mobile phones too. I just don't see the point in buying a piece of crap when I can afford better. You should always buy the best you can afford, but I agree with pachy in saying that credit cards are definitely not the way to go. Work for you money and you enjoy the purchase even more.

@scotsboyuk,
The single most important thing to get right in my opinion is to minimise overheads, so if your ill or go through a bad personal period of your life (& we all do at some stage) your not under extreme pressure of dept which will certainly add to the problem.
Down here in the south east of England the latest trend is to buy a stupidly expensive new car (Often a terrible investment) by remortgaging the family home.
How stupid is THAT !!
Several friends of mine have convinced themselves they are successfull property developers/ entrepreneurs just because their house value has rocketed. such short memories.

I know what you mean. I am quite fortunate in that I can afford such things without doing anything silly like that, but some people really do try and place themselves in a higher bracket than they really are.
