The special thing about Nokia is that they never cancel any phones they announce. Or delay them. Even if I try, I can't see Nokia losing anything to other companies in what comes to 3G video call phones. They aren't stupid.

Are you nuts man? Because you seem to be. The Series 60 phones are smartphones! Are you actually saying that every Nokia should be a smartphone? That would absolutely kill their sales! What you need to understand is that, NOT EVERYBODY WANTS OR NEEDS A SMARTPHONE. The world is full of non-tech geeks, normal users. It's SE who favours only the tech geeks with their phones. And again I find myself thinking, "when it's a Nokia, it can be declared absolutely ugly but when it's an SE, it's debatable or just unconditionally gorgeous". You are pathetic.

Quote:look at the n gage i cant see why people buy it the scrrens the wrong way around and is crap in quality its a crap phone over all. People who buy it know nothing their dumb gits who pertend they know something and lick nokias arse because their daft twats. i mean look how you use it to call people! its blatently for the 10 year olds who just send texts cos they cant afford to call people.

I take it you haven't tried it. I bought mine because it was the only Series 60 phone that didn't have a camera (I don't want one) and had an MP3 player, FM radio, cool looks etc.

Quote:Look at the p900 nokia cant even come close to compete with t! heck they cant even compete with the p800

Nokia's smartphones sell better though. They have lower prices and they suit for people from the young (3650) to the more mature people (6600, 7650) and not just tech geeks who have the money. And I seem to recall Nokia being working on a new Communicator for the past few years but oh well..

Quote:Nokia phones are bought by people who know little about phones and think they are really cool but blatently not.

I can't stop laughing. Could you possibly think of a more ridiculous way to describe your envy to Nokias success? He just says..no, you all just say "nokia users are daft and know nothing about phones". Can't you see how stupid that statement makes you look? It's like, "we can't think of any good reasons, let's just say this to try to save our ass".

If they won't show us a 3G video conference phone in 2004, then I take my words back.

Reading the posts makes me realize some things.

Nokia makes phones for everyone from kids to old people and most of them who only need a few features. It tires to make eveything for everyone. This makes thier phones cheaper.

SE makes phones for techies. Most SE phones are feature-packed compared to nokias. SE tries to put everyting in the phone and hope that people will pick it up because it suits them in one way or another. The downside is that SE phones are more expensive.

I'm a gadget freak... so I go for SE.
I recently switched to a Pocket PC Phone because SE doesn't make one. If SE does then I'd go back to the brand... but I doubt it.

Iīve recently heard a couple of my friends saying about their nokia: it is a good phone but why doesnīt it have for example picture phonebook or ability to receive or send pictures or midi files directly from phone to phone. a nokia owner usually has to pay for that. if of course they donīt have a software and hardware available to send items to their phone. and when you take a midi from a SE phone and put in a nokia it sounds like s... - not enough channels and crappy instruments.

look at nokia: a new phone comes out and there is nothing new but the cover. they still use a menu system that displays one menu choice at a time (well it is coloured, but....)

Iīve also heard nokia people saying about my t610 - itīs a good phone for reasonable price. but they are not gonna go for it cause they are loyal to their brand. a lot of nokia people still think SE phones ar slow and they havenīt usually even seen or touched one. well some years ago ericsson really had phones that had a slow responce but still a lot of features. thatīs what makes people choose a nokia - everybody knows what it is and a lot of people are using it.

Series 60 are smartphones, just less PDA-like than the UIQ phones (Nokia's UIQ competetors actually are the Series 80 and 90 phones - namely the communicators but we've had people here comparing phones like T68i and 7650 so I've stopped believing you can ever get it right). All Nokia Series 60 phones also have 24-chord polyphonic ringtones. The screens have always been said to be good by reviewers, since the 7650. If you knew anything about Series 60 you'd know that the menu system is very advanced and FAR from antic. Please go to forum.nokia.com and read about Series 60 so that you won't look so stupid. I don't agree they look and feel plasticky and have cheap components - I advise you use a Nokia Series 60 phone before saying things like that. And how would you know anything about the components being cheap? You also seem to be giving the picture that the P800 suits for every Series 60 customer; I believe most of them don't need most of it's features and get better value for their money with Series 60 phones.

Doesn't have picture phonebook and only one menu at a time.. Can I just put a list here of the Nokias that HAVE picture phonebook and grid view menu? Ok.

Series 40 (not in the first models)

3100 (not sure about grid view menu)
3200
5140
6220
6230
6650
6810
6820
7200
7250i
7600

Series 60 (picture phonebook and grid view menu have been standard Series 60 features since its launch in 2001)

3600
3620
3650
3660
6600
7650
N-Gage

Series 90 (grid view menu and picture phonebook are standard Series 90 features)

7700 - the only Series 90 device so far

About the IR, I don't know much about the limitations on Series 40 phones but they can receive anything via it and send calendar notes, contacts etc to other devices. Series 60, 80 and 90 phones can send whatever is in them via IR.

Nothing new but the cover.. the 5140, the latest Nokia, added this stuff to its predecessor, the 5100:

-EDGE
-integrated VGA camera
-3 softkey UI
-gride view menu
-Push to talk
-animated menu graphics
-video player and recorder
-WIM
-Java email client
-presence-enhanced contacts
-Image Uploader
-Java 2.0
-business card with image
-XHTML (WAP 2.0)
-OMA Forward Lock for content protection
-OMA Super Distribution over infrared and MMS
-Class 10 GPRS
-caller picture
-voice dialling
-voice commands
-voice recorder
-and other things

I can also do a list like that of 3100's advanced version, the 3200, or the 7650's ideological replacement 6600 if you want?

nokia phones cheap components, plasticky etc. why the p900's coming out now are made in malaysia and my t616 creaks (made in china). just because it has an aluminum plate makes it classy, nope. now there is a recall of the cingular t616 due to SE forgot to install an important component in it. very high quality huh?
