my word p800 looks better than p900?
contemproary style over fischer price stylings always!
That's an entirely subjective opinion. You call the P9 "contemporary" (as in, apeing PDA's from about three-four years ago), I'd call it boring and unimaginative. You call the P8 "fisher price", I call it distinctive, elegant, and fun.
Quote:any way i have had both handsets i would never go back to a p800 simply because the screen looks so awfull cant believe i used to think it was good. And the desingn is awfull and the mmeory is limited
the screen is perfectly adequate for its purpose; the P9 screen, tho better, is far from perfect itself. quite honestly, if your main interest is mobile video, there are far better choices than either of these phones. as for the limited memory, I'm sorry, in what way does the P9 differ? an extra 6mb (available to the user) is it? wow. that's going to make all the difference. face it, the P9 shares the same limitations (most notably the 128mb memstick restriction) as the P8 - no point blowing all your money on one now if you're looking to get past that. you're far better off saving for the next model.
Quote:and you cant even use MP3 as ringtones.
this made me laugh out loud. i mean, imagine! what possible point could a phone without MP3 ringtones have?? i notice you don't mention the fact that the P8 can use WAV files instead, if you really must have someone singing to you in the office when the phone goes off (i can't imagine why anyone would, personally).
Quote:Than again do you need a p800 or do you just want it because you saw some rich people with one? or you think its cool? it is a lot of money dont forget.
but apparently not enough for you. well, aren't you the clever little rich kid.

Blood pressure mate. Whether or not u agree with benegal Girl's points, she clearly has the credentials to pass on her opinion; as an owner of both the P8 and P9.
IMO, from recently upgrading to P9 from P8, the phone is a worthy upgrade. The aesthetics may be subjective, but the build quality is certainly better! I'm a big fan of both phones, and such polemical opinions on the two shock me; surely the two are highly alike in many ways, designed for the same market, etc. Therefore why do people have such distinct opinions over which is better?! If it was me, I probably wouldn't be able to justify spending twice as much for the P9. That said I'd say it was significantly more....but if you really don't want to spend a fortune the P800 is a great phone and perfectly adequate in just about every department.

ok, maybe i'm too ratty in the mornings to post, but snobs wind me up. don't get me wrong, the p9 is a great phone and certainly does improve on its predecessor in many ways (tho far from all). but if you don't necessarily have the money to burn, and you aren't bothered by mind blowing new features such as mp3 ringtones (which i doubt the vast majority of serious users are) then the p8 is an obvious choice.
anyone can see that the differences between the two are often wildly overstated by p9 owners. another poster here has described it as "100 times better in every possible way" - so does the p9 have a 409,600 colour screen now? does it have 100x the resolution? does the camera? can you put a 12.8 gig memory stick in it (presumably there's at least one gig built in)? is the internet 100x faster? the reception 100x stronger? does the battery last an entire year on one charge? i could go on for some time more, but i think i've made my point - not only is the answer to each of these basic points a resounding no, but apart from one (the screen colours) there's simply NO difference AT ALL!
but you can use mp3's as ringtones.. woo..

Man you really sound like one of those people who knows the p900 is better but is in denial. Admit it to yourself, its better! My p900 broke and had to go to celestica, during which time i had to go back to using my p800... It made me feel nauseous at having to use that old piece of junk again. But remember its all relative; when the p800 came out i thought it was the most amazing thing id ever seen! Theres something about the p900 though, it has an indescribeable finesse and sophistication, and its so pleasant to hold, look at, touch and use.... It really is the shit on toast.

At which point? Was it when I said it was an improvement in many ways? Or when I pointed out the fundamental ways in which it was identical? At the end of the day, if I thought the P9 was a worthwhile upgrade for me, I'd go out and buy one tomorrow. You're the one that has, and you're the one that feels the need to justify your decision (but isn't convincing me).
Personally I'd advise anyone to save money on the P8 now, and then use what they've saved to buy a P10 next year. That should hopefully be an upgrade worth having, for both P8 & 9 owners.

I do agree that paying full price, it becomes perhaps unnecessary for the majority of p800 owners, who prefer function over aesthetics. But i was lucky that i got my p900 extremely cheap, then sold my p800.... I actually made a profit! So i have no qualms about having done this.
Clearly i am in a very agreeable mood today; this doesnt happen often and it must be something to do with the weather....
