The thing I'd like to see next in phones is the FM radio being supplemented/replaced with a DAB tuner - FM tuners in the UK at least will become useless from (I think) 2012 as the FM transmitters will get turned off then and we'll go exclusively for DAB!
I'm not sure how it would be done but I'd like to see Digital 'Freeview' TV tuners integrated into phones too.

better still what about phones that don't need to be re-charged

I kind of like some people's ideas in other threads about modern technology implemented into old phone's body. Like the T68, or (my likes) the T100

Mobile's have come along way in the last few years, bluetooth, cameras.
What do you think will be the next big thing?
T.V's?
As per NEC's pronouncements in 2003 that they will be releasing the very FIRST mobile-phone which has TV-feature in 2004, which sadly, did NOT materialize . . .
Samsung's P930 has that feature though . . .

the next thing tv for sure - now that bandwidth is growing, people will soon be watching streaming tv and news on their mobile phones almost as often as they do the TV. 3G operators in Australia are already offering paid TV with usually a free station or two.
As more people use mobiles for watching TV, free to air broadcasters will start looking at broadcasting their content on the gprs networks for free, or otherwise lose a large slice of their advertising revenue. They will buy chunks of airtime off the networks at bulk rates, and pay for it out of advertising revenue, giving it to the end user free (ie no gprs cost to you or me - but we have to put up with adds)
So unlikely as it seems now, I predict free to air TV programming over gprs.
Movies will remain to be mostly viewed in larger screens.
