LOLZ....man, didn't think my error in "1million mega pixels" would create such a stir...well, it would be kewl if phones did come out as such. anyways, i'm going to place an order for that Martin's screen protector. would one be enough to last and wheres a nice reliable site to deliver to scandinavia?
well, with my early birthday gift im definitely going to keep the P900!...been reading up on upcoming mobile phones and besides better quality cameras....the p900 is def on top!
thanks for all the feedback guys!

Speaking seriously for a moment, there comes a point when it is pointless to increase the pixel density any further because the human eye wouldn't be able to see the improvement.
Thats a bit untrue.
The higher the MP the better for zooming in on PC, If you took a photo from the PEAK in Hong Kong and had a "googol"(1with1000(0) MP, you would be able to zoom in and see into every window. and each window would be about 1MP.
That will be amazing! but I dont think I will be alive when that tech is out! and my kids wont be alive when that tech is out on phones!!
It isn't untrue at all. I highly doubt that any camera would ever be built with that level of pixel density as it would be almost certainly impossible using current technology and any technology in the foreseeable future, add to this, the fact, that the human eye wouldn't be able to discern any difference in picture quality after a certain pixel density and you can see why it is pointless even considering this idea.
I don't think you appreciate just how massive a number a googol actually is, to put it in context, there are less than a googol particles in the entire universe! There comes a point when picture quality would be the same as that of our vision, anything better than that would obviously be lost on us.
Your point about the increase in pixel density aiding digital zooming is correct, but again my point holds true, there still comes a point when an image cannot be made any better for human eyes.

But you could really enhance and pick out the detail on those beach holiday shots, if you see what I mean
Now theres a man with an idea!

This is very true. Also, consider how densely you could pack the individual cells on a photo sensitive chip; even if the cells were subatomic particles, you still couldnt cram enough together to get such high resolutions as we are talking about here.
Further to this, we seem to be forgetting that light travels in the form of individual energy packets called photons. If my p900 had, for example, a 10gigapixel camera, i wouldnt be able to zoom in enough to be able to make out details a great distance away, since in the split second of time it takes to capture a photo, not enough photons from that particular object will have fallen on the individual cells on my camera chip, so whatever im trying to zoom in on will appear faint, blurred and smudgy.

Yep these quantum limitations suck! And have you thought of a storage for videos taken with that cam?

Yes its no longer a limitation of current technology, its a limitation of the fundamental principles of maths and physics.

So it's better to create holographic cam!
