hahaha! well said!
i guess i should be more careful with what i say! no you are right...they CAN track you! it's really creepy here. the spy network is just too good! i think they stole it from israel or something!
they have total control over MANY people...they are called basijis...they are voluntary people...they have brainwashed them and they do whatever the govt asks them to do. it's kinda silly...cuz they are actually very nice people. they are just not very bright! i know a lot them. but have to keep my distance!
it's not all that hard to live in iran. there's alot of limitations, but people know how to break them!! alcohol is absolutely forbidden...but people have learnt to make them at home!! pressure causes creativity! just like it served japanese and the germans, after the wars.

i am not totally against our government i must say. i am a muslim. i understand the principles of the islamic govt thing...but noooo! this is not the way to do it! they have got it all wrong!!
but come on. we had 8 damned years of war with Iraq...or no, with the world!! i donno if you remember, but the whole world was against a war that was imposed on us. we had no allies...we relied all on ourselves. again, pressure caused creativity and forced us to create and produce.
now, we still have that state of mind. now we are more cautious. they are saying the nuclear stuff is just for energy...but i hope not!! we need something to intimidate enemies!! how much more should we be squashed!! i am not supporting violence in NO WAY! but come on. the world doesn't work logically anymore! jungle rules again!

i just say this, i hate talking about thiese things! don't force me!! hehe!
i am here for my beloved p800!! i get away from talking politics as much as i can! cuz i don't understand it! it's moving too fast and it's too complex. (i guess that's why they call it politics! no one should know about it in the first place!)

btw, thanks for welcoming me!

No probs mate!

I hope when you say 'enemies' for threatening with nuclear weapons you don't mean us! Mind you, to be perfectly honest, it might make Bush think twice before starting on invading his next country, unfortunately Iran is going to be high on his hit list! That man (George Bush Jr.) is arguably the biggest threat to world peace for a long time.

Anyway, sorry, still talking about politics! On the subject of P800s, mine is currently away having it's firmware upgraded! It keeps giving me that 'triangle of death' every so often, and doesn't seem to be getting on with Mini GPS which I'd installed on it. Damn useful piece of kit, I'll be glad to get it back in a fortnight or so

wow! a fortnight! that's long...how come in US and Europe in general technical services are of such low quality?? in malaysia, you can get a firmware update the same day!! in iran, it's about 2-3 days...
even when you guys are talking about prices, it's so much higher...
that's irony to the fact that most of the tech comes from your side!!
like when i bought my 3650, ppl in finland hadn't even heard of it!!!
makes you wonder!!

other than that, i also haven't updated my phone yet
mostly cuz i can't be without a phone for 2-3 days!! hehe! i need to borrow one...in malaysia, they let you have a spare meanwhile! that was cool.

about minigps, i used it on symbian6, ie 3650...i just LOVED the idea...and used the profile changer for a while..but it's not rreally good if it's in a quite near distance..i mean one location was in some block, and the next location which i wanted my phone to go on silent, was on another block...not so near but still...neighbours...it kept changing the profiles continously, even when the phone was not moving!! on my desk! that bothered me and i uninstalled it.
is the new one any better?
i don't get the triangle of death much...but i really wanna use phillips camcorder! also, i like to have a zoom featureusing camerafx...though i know the quality sucks...

in 3650, photographer made the pic quality better somehow! is there such thing in p800??

@Whizzkid - thanks for the welcome! Ta for saying we're the most powerful democracy in the world - but surely that honour would fall to the US? The UK has been an empire in decline since the end of WWII, though I'm hoping the rot's been stopped now.

There are some places here where you can get your firmware updated either the same day or within 2-3 days - it's just that there's no service centre near me, so I took it to a Carphone Warehouse (large moble phone chain in the UK) and they're doing it for free - despite the P800 being over a year old, secondhand and not bought from them!

I'm using a 7650 at the moment as my backup phone, and have installed Mini GPS on that. You're right, it is a much better implementation. The signal strength indicator is to the nearest 1%, not the 15% or so jumps that the P800 does! Not played with the profiles thing yet though, may do soon though!

So, what are the most recent phones you have there in Iran? the most used? (I guess the 3310 as all over the world )
Is GPRS available. Let us know in which point cellphone technology in Iran is. Is 3G near?

'sup new people!
we did talk about the phones we have in iran and how much cheaper they are, compared to US and eurpoe in the previous page!
ya true...some people still have 3310...cuz it's cheap!! but people here have all the new stuff, even before you guys!! trust me on that!!
i have seen things here that i haven't even seen on the net!!
also, Samsung is very active in iran...Nokia is picking up, but still, people here prefer Samsung..mostly because samsung put Farsi (iranian language) in their phones first...

and good to see you are trying to communicate bobafett, but shukran is Arabic! and we are not arabs...we are Iranians, or Persians to be more accurate. our language is called Farsi. it's quite similar to arabic, to a foreigner i must say...we don't understand each other at all!! hehe!

GPRS is available...but too expensive......not woth it yet.
even SMS is new here!! let alone GPRS! you have to apply for it...it's not default....and it had lotsa problems at first...like you could somehow (didn't care how) you could read other people's SMSs.
but that's not the trouble..getting a line is!!! it costs about $1100 to get a SIM card!!!! can u believe that???
you can, get one by about $500...but you have to queue up for it for about a YEAR!!!
now in iran, almost everyone has a mobile...but they can't provide enough lines...sometimes, at some parts, we have coverage problems..but i think every country has that problem.
it's fine in general.

the most used phone here, is samsung...all models...
i see a LOT of 3650's these days...it's so cheap that many can afford it. but i have to say this, iranians are really into luxuries!! they like to get the best stuff they can afford.
no of SE phones is also increasing...i have seen many p800's...not so much p900, but a lot of p800s.
cheers!
