hmmmm, nice at the moment but could be a problem. If she decides that it was stupid of her or that she just wants a new phone she will report it as lost/stolen. It then gets locked and you have a problem.
Also if you get into a discussion/problem with the police they could find you with a 'stolen' phone in your possession.
Phone the operator on the phone and explain that it was given to you by this girl and how. Say you want to transfer ownership of the phone (not the number) to yourself and ask how you do it. Hopefully you have a witness for when she gave it to you.

i did a master reset on the phone so no mare pics or contacts (it would be like reading somones diary!) got virgin to send gprs settings, and internet access worked for about 1.8meg, then stopped:( any ideas as to why? have 4pound odd in account.

Yeah, heres an idea, she finally got around to reporting it stolen to the network! Sorry mate, I think she did you over on that one and she probably has herself a nice new phone by now!

dont use gprs use gsm if ur on PAYG it will cost less, and if u really wanna use it then contact 02 they will send u a new sim with 300 free text and 200 free wap min's

If she has blocked the IMEI then I'd ring the service provider and say she gave it to you..then she'd be done for insurance fraud!
