Thankfully I've just managed to return my k700i to Vodafone.
On the MP3 restriction, it has absolutely nothing to do with protecting customers from breaking copyright. It's all about generating more revenue.
Why else would you be able to upload non-DRM MP3s to the phone to listen to them, but not be able to use as a ringtone?
As to the 2 external buttons and 1 menu option to the Live! 'service', I have no words that describe my disgust that could be typed here
I'm off on a search for an unbranded K700i with a Vodafone contract, anybody knows of any providers let me know!
I may even set up a petition site. I think I'll call it vodaboned

I had a branded T610 which was very irritating, but managed to upgrade to an unbranded k700 from Mobile Phones Direct. I have to say that apart from the "nannying" from Voda, I've never had a problem with their service or the performance of their network, and that has to be taken into account. Also, Vodafone are obviously a corporation with money-making ideals (ie sell more games, ringtones etc), hence the customisation of their handsets, but take a look around you; The majority of the phones they sell are to ignorant chavs who don't have the first clue and live to send texts and buy ringtones. As a business, you can't blame them for wanting to taylor their phones to the mass-market. I agree though that they should give customers a choice.
