Yahoo seem to have decided to make cookies a requirement since saturday. Has anyone else noticed this?

Does this port 80 traffic restriction not allow cookies to be saved/read or both?

What is the advantage of using outlook with pop3 over outlook with http?

Other outlook pop3 settings seem to use different ports for both in and out. Is this part of the problem and would changing these ports help?

Just trying to get my head around the restrictions and to get the most out of this.

thanks

this is interesting: when i connect to yahoo thru the in-build browser of my p900 everything is working, on the other hand when i try to connect with opera i always get stuck in the login with the error msg that my browser doesnt support cookies (i got cookies turn on in both browsers).

You should be able to get to whatever port you like, as long as it's HTTP traffic. I can get to my website's webmail system on port 2095 and I can also get HTTPS which is something I couldn't seem to get when I was using the O2 GPRS a few months ago. I use Safari.

There is also a limit of 1.5Mb on any file you download. If you try downloading a 3Mb file, the proxy just terminates the download. However the browser thinks that the download completed successfully (but in fact the file is incomplete), so you can't resume it (on Safari at least).

I can't get POP3 or IMAP4 to work and nor does MSN Messenger, even with the HTTP proxy settings.

Cookies are a problem. If you have a cookie saved on your computer for a site, then you should be able to access the site as long as the cookie is still valid. For instance, I have lots of cookies for message boards on my computer and when I go to one such message board, I am still logged in and can post. However if I log out then I can't log back in. You could try using the dialup number to obtain the cookie then connecting via. GPRS and see if the cookie still works (some are tied to an IP address).

I use an o2 online pay n go sim and get free gprs on my P900 and pc using my P900 as an infrared modem, I don't get charged 1p every connection either. Same is true of my wifes online sim. This message was posted from a P900

@vladichelsea

opera is an internet browser and these are WAP settings and not internet settings hence the incompatibility.use dialup or full internet gprs settings 2 overcome this or use your pc's internet connection via syncstation or bluetooth.

It seems some anyuser@... cookies seem to get through via wap dialup settings on my pocket pc while via a similar connection on my Desktop PC i can't even view google homepage. I found the settings somewhere which use port 8002 and leave the APN blank. I changed the port to 8080 while connected on PC and it would allow http traffic again, as it does via gprs.

Are there other ports which would work on dial up to allow cookies through, or do i need to access by standard dial up?

I still can't understand how i logged in last saturday and now it won't let me at all.

Thanks
