well i dont really need edge as my main operator went directly to 3g but vodafone-si decided to release edge......
anyway i still think that se should put out more phones with edge, heck you can't buy an european edge phone! (se)
and some other countries also have edge and 3g and ppl have the right to choose considering that edge isn't a lot slower but we all know it's a lot cheaper than 3g at least that's the situation here, and i agree that se isn't going to change their policy just because of a 2 million nation like slovenia but heck finland also has it and many other countries in eu.....

I would like to see EDGE too; I agree with mmsman that people deserve the coice, but unfortunately it doesn't look like we shall get it. 3G services will eventually take over from 2.5G services and I wouldn't imagine that those networks looking to switch to 3G would want to promote 2.5G services to any great extent.
SE design phones that will sell; this means that they design phones that will appeal to the biggest markets e.g. the UK, France, Germany, Italy, etc If the mobile networks in such countries are not looking to embrace EDGE then SE has no great motivation to release phones, which support it.
The U.S. has EDGE, in some areas, but I think this is probably more to do with the fact that 3G services will probably not become widespread in the U.S. for some time yet.

The situation is different in japan where the networks influence the manufacturers; in Europe it is the other way about.

, no IRDA, only cable. It has just more memory (6MB), EDGE and 4096 colors outer display. Bluetooth is very important to me, so therefore I hope for real successor. I'm currently using Z600 with iPAQ4150, so Z500 is downgrade.

Yes connectivity is poor but the outer screen is 4094 colours MORE than that of the Z600 & it's bigger.
But the new menu & 3D game engine is a GIANT leap forward.
