I had a T300 & a T610 last year and had no problem like this.
But,because your phone is new,the joystick might brush against the case and due to friction it stays 4 mm away.
Just try use it for a few more days and maybe the friction will be gone.
Just a thought...
Even if this is the problem,I'm upset with such a quality lack(we are paying lot of $ for

phones)

I totaly agree. It doesnt affect the usage of the phone, but it still irritates me. A strange thing, i went to a phone store today and they had the T630 as a demo. The same 4 mm joystick problem appered with that phone!?
You see, the joystick doesnt stay 4mm away from the middle, but the button is leaning down, even though the joystick is in the middle. As you can see here:

Hm you are right, but i still wonder about all T630 phones are the same? Try pressing the joystick a few times (as selecting a menu) , cuz i have now tried 3 diff phones with almost the same problem. Bobafett, your T630 should do the same?
Dont know if you can see my pics from wap, but here is the "normal" joy:
And here is the damned joystick leaning after clicking a few times on it, writing SMS etc:

Cannot see pix but do imagine. Listen, go to se and report later what did they say. I do get your point and understand your worry, but first wanna hear an official statement.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned how uncomfortable the T630 joystick is to use. It feels like the nib of a ball point pen jabbing into your thumb. I had one for a day and sent it back because (boo hoo) my thumb was sore; a colleague from work sent his back for similar reasons, although he did stick with it a little longer than me.
As for off-centre problem so many people are complaining about, perhaps the fact the T630 joystick has those sharp little corners means it catches on the inside of pockets/purses more easily than say a K700 (which has a larger, rounder joystick). If so it's a good advert for choosing clam-shell phones.

True, but the joystick is pretty much middle-centered. But if you look at my pics, you can see that the joystick-button is leaning... And that appears after using it normal. Pressing it down a few times (5-6) is enough for making it lean like that.
