IMHO, this phone is for people who give great value to the camera funtion...itīs almost a Sony P30 that makes telephone calls, because it has a CCD photo sensor, a HUGE advance over the normal crap CMOS sensors that all the other phones have (k700i, 7610, GX30, etc)
So, this is really a niche or segment product, i donīt think it will sell a lot, but it will have some sucess, because finally people will have doubt in buying a separate camera and mobile or...the s700

Sample photo in the review look like normal fixed point focus in most camera phone (look slighly off focus) but have better quality from CCD.

I think itīs fixed...it doesntīhave optical zoom...it would become even more huge
But it has many exposure controls, just like any Sony camera of the P series
(spot photometry, wb, etc)

What are the chances of somebody developing a java app media viewer that can will support the 240 X 320 screen resolution of the S700i?
Without full screen video playback i dont think the phone is worth upgrading to unless you are very keen on using the camera photo function regulary, as the phone is essentially a bulky K700i with more memory, better screen and proper camera.
This isnt enough to convince me to shell out. It is such a shame they didnt include full screen video playback on a phone that is literally crying out for that use and i am certain this will stop many people from buying who had initially intended to like myself.
However if someone can create a java app that can do this, then the phone becomes suddenly worth having again......

Youīre right, GX30īs is also CCD, but with lower resolution...that explains why gx30īs photo are also so good
And i agree, itīs outrageus not having full screen video with such a screen! And btw, the absence of java acess to the bluetooth port is also intolerable in a expensive phone like this...
But this is only a pre-production model...

Hey all! I thought the S700i had a memory stick duo that could support upto 1gb??? Can anyone clarify this coz the review says it only supports up till 128mb?? Also, can anyone please clarify whether the s700 i has EDGE support??? I have read some places that it does and some places that it does not?? clarification will be greately appreciated!! Thanks a lot!

Motorola RaZr is an extremely nice handset....if it had the S700/K700 OS....it would be a perfect "Little Phone"...very classy and so nice to touch. Materials are the best, but make it quite expensive.
The S700i as another poster has already stated....is a niche phone in my opinion as well. It takes great photos, especially in sunlight, and would be something that a "ShutterBug" would want to carry as his/her phone. Or, someone like myself who travels would find the phone extremely nice to have for vacations where the improptu photo opportunity arises and you don't have a camera, going to the beach, etc...
I won't carry this phone as a primary device though.
