I would think its fairly obvious that SE are getting the fast money back off of the contract people first, cos at the price its set at from release, they, like me, are the people getting the best deal on the phone.

At £119 on a £35 pm contract, I dont think the phone is expensive for what I get out of it.
However , there is no way I would pay £500 for this baby, and then pay for a payG sim as well !

your paying £540 for the phone your just spliting the payments over 12 months and getting some free calls in return. it is a better way to do it than stumping up £500 straight away.
i do think its quite expensive for a that was already made and been sold in japan that se just slapped a european casing on but you cant blame them for making money they are a business not a charity.
and if you like what you bought then its worth the money to that individual whatever they paid

all phones are initally overpriced.

and over time price will drop.. it's what you pay for being the kid with the newest toy on the block..

look at the gx30/2, 7610, sl65, moto razor, v600, p800/9/10 all over priced at first.

if you want one cheap just wait.. and then you can get it free on a 2 year contract.

nokia phones' initial prices aren't as expensive as SE.. especially the series 60 smartphones.. Nokia offers real value for money. And it's undeniable nokias are just as good as sony ericsson phones... Oh, except for design. some Nokias are butt ugly.

SE must be thinking that they have produced the best phone to date thus the price. Let me tell you SE, S700 sucks big time !!!!

It sucks because of the price, yes I agree
I got my phone (S700i) today and I definitely don't think it is worth that extremely high price tag.

Display to S700i is among the best display or maybe the best one I ever have seen and the camera seems really nice too, I haven't transfered shots to my computer yet but once I'm done with my 15 hours battery recharge I will post some shots.
Except from those things and external memory slot, this has nothing K700 can't offer you. The thing is thick, too thick for my taste and someone said it was actually slimmer than I thought I do not agree with them. this one is pretty thick.

This is probbably the first phone from SE that made me to feel disappointed. It cost a lot and is to thick for my taste.

Right....so, producing loads of handsets that are all essentially the same but each with a minor irritating omission to help all the other models sell is good value for money?

S700i might be overpriced, but for functionality:price ratio, beats Nokia hands down.

SE does the same thing... s700 lacks edge and 850 mhz freq (expan max 128 ms, when they know they can throw in a 2 gig)

s710 has 850, edge, but no radio

p900, p910... same deal.

but yet you fanboys call is an upgrade....

all manufacturers do it...
