In Amsterdam last friday, at the bluetooth-congress I saw both N7650 and P-800.
They are very nice both of them,..not that huge in size.
Both look good...feels good
About the missing bluetooth-headset-profile,..I asked Nokia about it, when I stood with the 7650,..and they told that it would probably come as a software-upgrade later on. They had some problems implementing it into the Symbian software.
P-800 doesnt really look that much like a pda,..its different,..and as with most SE-products,..it looks much better in real life,...silver-metallic and grey-steel-blue
Release is still Q3,..asked about it in Amsterdam
The 7650 looks better in real life too,..and it feels solid,..the sliding panel also feels solid/firm. Screen looks nice.
Release very soon (within 2-3- weeks)
Its still pretty hard to compare these 2,..as the 7650 is a phone with some pda-functions,...and the P-800 is a communicator with all the pda-programs/functions.
All in all, these 2 seem to get the work done
Personally I dont know if I'll get one of these,..as I have the ipaq H3870,..might just wait up and see, when the replacement for T68i comes along

With the addition of the MS duo slot and the MP# playback this phone/PDA hybrid has become unbeatable. there is nothing even close to being in the pipeline that competes wit hthis product! The nokia 7650 though interesting is simply not up to the competition posted by the P800.
The key points I have been searching for in a PDA and phoen are as follows:
Small size: at 4" x 2" x 1" this phone isnt tiny but its still perfectly small enoguh to fit in a pants pocket.
Color screen: with a guge 320x240 screen in 12bit color nothing comes close to matching the P800 except for the O2 XDA, but that product fails miserably in the size category.
Expansion Options: This was the area that kept me from throwing my hat in with the P800 until the press release yesterday which eased all my fears. With an open operating system liek symbian os memory expansion options are going to be essential for realizing a devices full potential. with the included 16meg MS duo card included this system comes with 28meg of memory standard. This much memory and the possibility of expansion to up to 140meg (with a 128meg duo) makes it an honest alternative to any other pda for storing files, images ringtones video clips and....
MP3 playback: While not essential this feature will be really great once larger memory stick duo cards are released with only 28meg of memory nething but low bit rate wma files just wont fit reasonably enough to bother, but with even a 32 or 64 meg duo MS this devices potential really shines. not to mention the possibility of small streaming audio clips and video. imagine watching an episode of the Simpsons on your phone as you go to work! far fetched? not with the P800!!!
GPRS and real web browsing: Though WAP is all well and good it simply does not substitude for real inet browsing in full HTML. With this feature and high bandwith (relativly) GPRS. getting timely information from web sites will no longer be a crap shoot or inuriatingly slow process. also being able to view things in landscape mode is great for web sites and excel documents.
Digital Camera: Being a tech nut I already have asmall and high mega pixle digital camera but i dotn always carry it with me. With the built in camera and MMS this phone will really make taking snapshots a much more common event at least in my life. I ALWAYS have my phone and therefore will always have a camera with me when this gets released!
BlueTooth: Great feature that I wont be able to live without. With a bluetooth enabled laptop (via pccard BT or onboard BT) Surfing the web at GPRS speeds (56k from what I understand) from newhere will now be honestly feasable. Also I cant wait till the bluespoon head set is released and when the BT chatpen thing is released (im a tech nerd I will have to have all the BT stuff I can get my hands on.
As far as down sides go There are a couple I see:
First and foremost the color/styling: This thing isnt a toy it will never be cheap enough to sell to the youth market at $500+ it should ahve an adult business like apearence like a nokia 8890 or something sleek and cool like that. I dont want something that likes like a tiny toy imac. but with all these features I will deal.
No Keyboard: I hate onscreen keyboards and handwriting recognition, the Treos greatest feature is the built in keyboard for SMS and typing up emails and such. Fortunatly I read soomewhere that the P800 will be compatible with the ericson chatboard thumb keyboard, making it VERY cool and aleviating a major pain in the but factor facing all PDAs and communicators.
Expensive SDK: as a programer I have been looking into writing programs for my P800 (i am obviously buying it the minute it is released) Having done some research it seems to cost $995 to get a beta SDK for the Symbian UIQ OS. as a hobbiest this is simply to expensive.Some of the greatest Palm programs have een developed by small independant developers liek me in thier spare time, because Palm's SDK is free or suprisingly cheap. (there are also a numbe rof alternative developemtn environments)
In any case as far as I am concerned Sony-Ericsson has hit the nail on the head with the P800. It truly has all the features one could ask for on a mobile device and it is going to be released within the next few months. On this point there has been some contention but I am VERY certain this product will be released on time (probably in august). Sony has an amazing track record for releasing products in the specified time frames. This has been a Q3 2002 product for almost a year now and if you look back and see how the flow of information and specifications and revelations(MS Duo + MP3) has played out they are obviously building up steam for the Q3 release. They have a fully functioning P800 minisite up with every feature clearly explained and demonstrated. they had working prototypes at Cebit all these factors point decidedly to an ontime release. (also the T68i (m) was released on time as well.) It would be a tremendous marketing error for SE to delay tis product or in the very least push back the release date unless it was absolutly neccesary. Some may contend the addition fo MS duo and MP3 will actualy push back release but I dont think so. I assume the minute Sony and Ericsson merged they looked at thier pipeline and decided immediatly to put MS duo into thier top end device ie: P800. Also the Mp3 hardware was probably taken directly from a sony clie leading to easy integration. These factors should not delay the release date.
In any case I am excited as anybody to get my hands on this little wunder and start writing cool programs for it! (first up multi player "Worms" then an AOL AIM client, and my most ambitious project will be a MultiPlayer RPG similar to the "Eye of the Beholder" series of SSI goldbox first person RPGS from the late 80s/early 90s.)
So in closing the P800 is the device to beat for the forseeable future (ie the next 6-9 months) after that who knows?! mabey smartphone 2002 really will be compellign (but dont expect that until Q2 2003 at the earliest, Zendo has no history in the market and not enough backing to get a product out son enough to compete with the P800.

...am testing 1 of the only 7 P800 TUs available to Sony Ericsson UK, and believe me, this unit will definately make the Q3 dealine. The debugging process is virtually over. I can honestly say that the first shipments will be late, late August 2002

I love the looks and the functionality of the p800 but only if the blue section is in black or lunar gray, but i say let
take as much time as they want, and make the phone almost crash proof,
once some bad news comes out saying that it has a problem it'll always haunt the new users and the general openion.
I remember the bad reception on the t68m... even after the r2b005 some people argue with me saiying that they read many articles sayingthat ther reception is bad.
One more thing
would better do a decent software development kit for the p800.

In Singapore, P800 will only release around Q4. And from my past experience, it is always about 1-2 months slower than the europe.
But I will really hope to get a p800 for my birthday!!! Heeee....
