I'm not sure about it.

Nokia first stept into the mobile gaming business, and others will follow. As you can see, Ericsson also had the plans about releasing a new mobile gaming device. The Red Jade.

Now, because of the joint-venture between S and E, all the licenses Sony allready has, are now very easy to get for SonyEricsson.

I think SE will release a mobile gaming device in the near future. At this moment they are just looking what the market will do with e.g. the PSP.

Its possible, but my only fear is the batt, especially at usage of game freaks. I played with a k7 15 mins, the batt was fully charged and after it the indicator was dropped 1 apart. This message was posted from a T68i

as discussed many times on here sony have very little to do with se beyond initail finance.
so yes se have limited knowledge in building a games machine


Well i can clearly read here in an interview with Urban Gillstrom (President of SE)

isnt he talking about exsiting games ie 3d java games on the phones and exisiting sony java games on a similar subject if the link between sony and se is so strong how come its taken them till this year to produce a decent camera phone/s ie k700/s700. prior to that not one of there phones was any good compared to everyone else.yet sony make some great digital cameras

You said that Sony knowledge in gaming wouldn't be used in SE. The only connection between Sony and SE is money.

I read:

Now is Playstation an SE product...

3d java games could be classed as working with sony as sony will no doubt be releasing titles but they wont be just for se they will be for all 3d java phones does that mean nokia are working with sony or samsung or motorola.
also why not comment on the second part of what i said perhaps the more important part would the big games companies support se in such a devlopment due to the lower rate of sales over other companies and also that the ngage has nt been a great success. also how about the point on sony who have there own machine about to launch how happy would they be.
maybe in the future i will be provide totally wrong but till then i dont think se will make an n gage type machine for the reason ive stated.
if i am wrong fair does it aint the end f the world

I would not have thought that se would make a gaming device, as this would mean that sony would have devisions competing against each other, just like the sony clie range being dropped, they would of had to have a connected palm device to take the range further but that would of have competed with the se p series.

Also the ngage is hardly very popular.

Read the news Nokia sold 1 million Ngage/OD. Their plan was to sell 6million by end this year.

i think some of u r missing the point. Yes, Sony has PSP and SE has phone tech. But putting them together and coming up with something that works is another matter. Next hurdle is to get game makers to support the platform.

btw: Ngage games also work in all Series60 phones. What I think will happen in future is that game makers like Sega and Nokia will eventually come to agreement to open the sales of games to all Series60 phones instead of just restricted to Ngage. If this happens, suddenly game makers would hv a potential market of some 200 million Series60 devices by 2008/9.

The ngage is a mobile first and console second. And a poor console to boot. No gamer takes the ngage too seriously. The PSP on the other hand is a serious gaming device built by a company with a successful gaming heritage. But, its much easier to only have a single device for your communitation and gaming needs- simply due to the convenience. Sony have realised that with the increase of mobile gaming will eventually start eating into their larger console's revenue. The PSP is their answer. GSM or not. This message was posted from a K700i
