lynn and others:
as i have posted in other threads, the v802 launch in japan is not for several more weeks.
vodafone shops have no actual info on this model yet, and when i called around i finally found a very nice lady who did know about it, but she told me that the japan launch is still several (" at least") weeks away yet.
from experience, the keitai sites in japan are able to obtain launch timings at least 2 weeks in advance, and the keitai sites have no updated info on the japan launch at this time, other than some sites predicting "latter half" of November.
Also, vodafon japan typically will make sure that a launch co-incides with that month"s monthly brochure of new fones and services, and the november brochure came out on oct 30 and no mention of the v802.
i predict that we will see a december launch on the dec 10th or 11th, with actual mass distribution to most smaller shops taking until week of dec 20th.
dont forget that JATE approval of this fone was very very late, only given in early october, so there was undoubtedly some sort of network or software glitch that delayed approval of it at JATE level. (a bit of a concern, that...)

two bits of news obtained today:
1. today voafone japan confirmed that the v802 that vodafone will sell in japan will not be able to work with any other network's usim cards.
2. japan launch date is still not announced. their flag ship store in shibuya thinks that early december is most likely, however, but no confirmation of this.
regarding vodafone japan's wcdma fones not accepting any other company's usim cards, this continues the status quo. no current vodafone japan wcdma fone can accept another network's usim card.

@blackspot - Are you a lady dude? Maybe you become a Japayuki back there

(just kidding here) . . . during my college days, we used to have that Japanese Language class, but I did not learn a thing - only a few like: konnichiwa, bakero, simasen, hai, arigato etc., I become more adept with the Spanish one

!

If I was a lady I'd probably look like Jill Mills
BTW, I believe there's no such word as "bakero". It's just what people think it is because that's how it almost sounds like. I believe the proper word is "baka yarou" which means "crazy guy", FYI.

@blackspot - Good thing you're not a lady mate

! Thanks for the correction there - bakero, as that's how I hear them pronounce it specially with FPJ's 70's flicks !
