I thought this question has been answered before. Sony Ericsson is a Private Joint Venture, wholy owned 50-50 by Ericsson and Sony.

SE purchases Technology from Ericsson AB, and Sony. Yet they make their own descisions. The parent companies help with the technologies, Ericsson with the mobile platform and UIQ, bluetooth, and its experience with GSM tech. Sony provides consumer knowhow, and technology such as Memory Stick, Jogdial, and imaging, as well as their vast entertainment contacts.

SE is Headquartered (Managed) in London, UK. WIth R&D located in Sweden, Japan, China, US and UK.

You can find out all the information from the SE website, and Ericsson's website.

I think the statement says it all really. Sony and Ericsson are a perfect albeit - slightly unusual match.

It was probably difficult to merge the cultures together although I bet it is a very interesting company to work for and I would imagine both parent companies have an awful lot to bring to the table.

Must be great being part of the development team nowadays having the sort of resourses available to them that they have

Yeah, just imagine having those resources at your fingertips and imagining what you could create.

It must be nice working for a successful company like that who are obviously on a roll at the moment because the first couple of years were quite worrying from what I have read.
