i think the last few posts have missed a vital point, its not SONYERICSSON and samsung that joined forces, its SONY and samsung.

@ Miss UK,

from what i can gather the S65 isnt that expensive anymore, and its still a damned good handset from what i can tell! 1.3mp cam, bt, rs-mmc, email, web. and all in a siemens UI which has all the normal qualities of a siemens handset, like being able to upgrade the sw online (siemens hasve always done this) and the fact that you can customise the 1-9 key to set it to whatever function you want! i dont know of any other make that can do that?

C'mon SE, how about a partnership with siemens??

i sure hope so bobafett.

If Nokia/Ericsson and Motorola? can come up with Symbian, why the hell on earth should they not all put there ideas in to one big pot and see what they come up with?

id be happy, if i only saw one new handset every 2 months as long as the quality and features were up to scratch.

im just scared of what 3.5/4G will bring to the table, if 3G can invade our privacy so much what will 4G do to us?

@Nature

I wasn't missing that point at all, the agreement as I read it includes each company's subsidiaries, and since Sony has a stake in Sony Ericsson this would presumably mean that SE will be able to benefit from this deal too.

Ok, I read all of these posts, and then went back and read the first paragraph of the press release. As one persone correctly pointed out, this is a cross-license agreement between Sony and Samsung, not a partnership or merger of any sort and has nothing to do with mobile phones. Sony and Samsung are two of the largest electronics manufacturing corporations in the WORLD! Anyone badmouthing this announcement is not thinking because it means higher quality and more affordable electronics to us. They both make a hell of a lot more than phones, and surely phones are a miniscule part of their product portfolios! Sony Ericsson was a joint venture between Sony and Ericsson purely for the purpose of making mobile phones. Unless they have some sort of agreement soon to expire, you can bet that there's no way in hell Ericsson is going to let mobile phones be a part of this new deal. Also, it's not like they would do this because Samsung wants Bluetooth on their phones and SE wants.....whatever Samsung's good at... Anybody can put these features in their phones, it just comes down to who can manufacture and/or procure the components, assembly, distribution, marketing, etc. cheaply enough to make their phones competitive. Samsung could have had BT on their phones several years ago but if they cost $100 more than competitive phones with comparable features nobody would buy them, thus, they didn't include it in the specs.

I can see where motos headed, not seeing much non 3g stuff from them anymore and as for SE and Nokia, well Nokia will keep releasing as masny handsets as they can, as long as there are places like the phillipines to buy them, nokia will release them! and SE, well i wouldnt like to say where they are headed. hopefully for much greater things. im just very very dissapoited in them recently, which is why ive moved onto Samsung, SPV and back to Nokia,

I just feel nothing has improved since the T68i, what real improvment is there in the K700i from the T68i?? i cant think of any tbh. but hey thats my 2penneth worth!
