Since it is new I am going to completely discharge the battery before recharging it.

I think that you need 5-6 times of phone shutting off from empty battery and then recharging so it gets to 100%

It doens't seem to be turning off! It has now been on for over forty eight hours with the initial charge it had when I got it and then a single charge from the charger. I am rather interested to see how long it will last before it finally does switch off.
