we (my cpw branch) tested the clarity, picture softness, colour exposure, etc between the s700 and the 6630, then asked the public to decide between the two...and the 6630 won...even under max zoom, the loss in quality is very much evident on the s700...very pixelly..even when we printed the pictures out, the sharpness is clear on the 6630...ut, comparing these two phones for features is invalid...obviously...as for video calls...it's a gimmick...thats why nokia didn't build a camera into the phone...we found alot of people don't really care about video calls...naturally, it's fun at first, but it soon wears off...6630 is a real step up from whats gone before...ie 7610, 6600...there are some very good obvious changes, apart from the ones you can't see...the os upgrade, the 3d grafix engine...

I agree with 66304um and I totally disagree with k4m!k4ze, which doesn't know what he is talking about. The Camera in 6630 is slightly better than S700 in general, and much better in dark / dusk conditions (even without a flash).
The pluses of S700 (in fact let's consider S710 which has EDGE
) against 6630 are the screen and the flash (which I use as a small lock finder on my k700 at nights
) and the nice UIQ3.
What do you think about E1000?

As for the camera, I was really impressed with 7610 camera pictures, given that phone doesn't really sacrifice anything for it (unlike the S700) the quality is very good. The 6630 is also excellent, while out shooting with my proper cameras I took some shots with the 6630 and they are not bad at all - on my other phones I never use the camera because the quality is so dire, that's not the case with the 6630. I would have really liked a flash though, that would have killed the battery further no doubt but I would like to be able to take pics in pubs and things when I have forgotten a digital camera or want a quick pic to send an mms with.
This is my first Nokia in a while, and aside from a few S60 niggles (no keylock, poor alarm system) I'm generally very pleased with it. I'm not replacing my p900 but it's nice to have something for a change, the 6600 feels well built, the screen is bright and clear, and the OS is reasonably fast and responsive.
The two main disadvantages for me are the battery, which is stupidly small for a smartphone and the rs-mmc, I would much rather have a standard rs-mmc and ideally an SD card reader like the Sendo X. I did try the Sendo X before I had the 6630 (only briefly) and I really liked some of the ideas they had with the phone, just a shame it suffered from too many software problems.

Dunno where all the misinformation about S60 phones not having a keylock comes from. The 6630's keys can be locked just like any other Nokia phone: "left softkey" followed by " * ".
If you are within a menu and want to lock the keys, just press the red end key to get back to the desktop then left softkey and *. Or if you want to stay in the menu, press the power button and scroll to Lock Keys.
As for poor alarm system, I take it you mean no multiple alarms. Here's an excellent tiny 10KB multiple alarm utility:

Poor battery life with the 6630 is usually caused by constant switching from 2G to 3G and back again. This drains power like nobody's business.
In later firmware versions (v3.45.11x) there's a menu option to switch to GSM mode only and never access 3G (Tools>Settings>Network Settings>Network Mode>GSM). This vastly increases battery life, some people report operation time going from 1 day to over 3 days.
But this option not present on older versions. All vodafone branded 6630's don't have this option as no new vodafone branded 6630 firmware exists.
There is, however, a solution in the form of Nokia's Field Test software. Have a look here for a clear guide and a link to download the app:

Believe me, the difference in battery life between 3G and 2G only is night and day. My 6630 lasts 3-4 days between charges, whereas in 3G mode it would only last a day max.

I'm also well aware of the 2G/3G issue, my phone is never on 3G, the battery is still not great but given the phone has a good screen and small battery, I don't expect good batterylife.

Couldn't agree more with you on the P900 camera, why they bothered putting one on in the first place I don't know, the picture quality is so dire I never used it.
If I had neither phone, and was offered the choice, I would take the P900 each time, but having used UIQ for a while and not Series60, I'm enjoying the 6630, I'm disappointed SE didn't do more with the P910, if it had wireless ethernet I would have upgraded to it.

Bluetooth is more suited for a cellphone.I belive the nokia 9500 has implemented Wifi with somewhat limited specs and success. I am running a bluetooth network (class 1) and for internet access is just fine.At around 250Kbps you could easily implement VoIP too :-) lets hope the new fuelcell battery will change the odds in Wifi's favour.
