I had my T68 on everyday... except when it hangs or I need to change sim card or when I am on the plane. The phone had no problem at all. I swithced to the T610 1.5 years ago and it too stayed on everyday without any problem. So I guess you dont really need to power off phone.
Memory wise, i guess you have a point, but I am not sure if it really apply to a phone. Also remember computer need to be turned off to reset memory because of the software not hardware. It is all because MS WINDOWS is not written well... I am sure when there are 2 computer with the same computer hardware/setup, the computer with Linux can stay on longer than the Windows computer so it software related and not hardware related.
Another point to consider is how often do you buy new phone? I think not switching it off may increase the phone life... but do you really need the phone to incrase it life time from 5 years to 10years? I ususally buy a new phone every 1-2 years... or whenever SE comes up with a T68/T610/K700/V800 line product...

In my view, except for freeing RAM, there's no need at all to turn the phone off. There is need, however, to treat it right!

I restart everyday my p910 just for freeing memory. On the other hand, i dont think i must close the phone for 10 min. after a charging but i saw that if the screen backlight is on for 15 min, i feel a little bit hot at the bottom of the screen, it is better to close the flip in every 15 min.

what is the logic behind freeing memory while restarting? Is it like flash memory or something?

It's purely a software thing. Same as with Windows, when you run a program then close it, it should release all of the memory it was using. This does not always happen completely. After a while the system starts to run low on memory if lots of programs have been used. Remember the bad old days of Windows 3.1, where you may have to reboot 3 or 4 times per day. The P series will warn you when things get too messy, with a message something like 'The system is restarting to improve performance'. The phone then reboots all by itself. Performance will be reduced well before the phone decides to reboot by itself.
