The OS of the 7650 and P800 are the same (Symbian OS7) with the P800 sporting the newer GUI called UIQ.

A company is experimenting with video recording on the 7650 using MPEG4. So you get to record a whole 4 min on the 4MB FIXED RAM!!! OOOOoooo!!! HAHAHAHA!

The same app can be ported to the P800 to record upto 2 hours of video on a 128MB Memstick Duo.

I find both the 7650 and P800 a big on the large side... BUT, considering that the P800 has:
-tri-band
-has Bluetooth, with the headset profile (kinda dumb to have BT, and not be able to use a BT headset)
-large screen, compared to the puny 7650 screen
-HTML, xHTML, cHTML, WAP 2.0, and iMode browsers
-16MB built-in, PLUS 16MB on the free Memstick (compared to 4MB on the 7650)
-Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Acrobat Viewers
-Video Player (MPEG4, 1MB/min of video)
-MP3, AU,WAV player (Although I think SE will include Sony's ATRAC codec too)
-14 days claimed standby time, although I assume only 1 week... that's still 4 days more than any Nokia
-I think the P800 is lighter than the 7650 (148g w/o keypad vs 154g for the 7650) weird, considering the P800 has more circuitry, and is larger

The OS of the 7650 is only Symbian OS6 while P800 is with Version7 ....so P800 is a step ahead of the nokia.........can't wait for P800 to come out !!!

All,

I have had my 7650 for a couple of days now, I have had a T68i since last november and I have also used a development version of the P800. Although the 7650 is a bit of a brick so is the P800 (although they have got a much bigger screen in). I have downloaded apps from web browsers, games, and MP3 players from the links elsewhere in this forum and you can make what you want to out of the phone. The main selling point for me is that it is NOT stylus operated like the P800 or XDA (despite the keypad on the P800). I have had PDA's i the past and I do NOT want the PDA. A good personal choice and compomise for me is the 7650. I'll let you know if I end up back with the T68 or keep on with my 7650 after living with it for a bit

My thoughts exactly regarding pen-interface on the P800... BUT... think about it... People who WANT all the features will usually be techies... I find the 7650 too big considering it's great lack of features... mainly lack of 1900 band, expandable memory, and a bigger screen (I think the screen is too puny for a phone THAT BIG)

I love the fact that most of the P800 is one large screen. Although, as I've stated before... the keypad design really sucks. Looks cheap, and poorly designed... but I also do NOT like the fact that I have to open the 7650 before I can type an SMS... mechanical parts have a way of wearing down or rattling when frequently used.

Both phones have their pros and cons... although i think the 7650 pales in comparison to the P800...and don't give me that, apples oranges crap... these 2 phones are in the SAME class... they run the same OS, same price range, both have cameras and are targetted to the same market share. The T68 is pitted against the 8xxx series. It's kinda obvious.

These phones use different variation of Symbian platform. 7650 uses Pearl, which is meant for keypad input and 1/8 vga screen size devices. P800 uses UIQ, which is meant for pen-based input and 1/4 vga screen size devices.

I'll rest my case.

I got my ticket to Dubai today. I am flying there in December. Cant wait to get out of the aeroplane and buy myself a P800 which I am sure will be cheaper than Europe and no tax on it either
